Whew. That *was* Close

Moms are usually the ones with “eyes in the back
of their head” or so it’s said.
No doubt, over and over the old saying
has been proven true in our home.
But what happens when Mom is out of the country?
Good Question.
{haha}
So the word coming to us over here in Africa is
that last night Dw and the six youngest
were hurrying to get ready so they could
leave the house.
One brother {who shall remain anonymous} told Jubilee
that he would help her by doing her hair.
{Truly, how sweet is that?}
So she found her hairbrush
and handed it to the master
who started brushing her hair.
A spiffy motion this way.
A snazzy move that way.
As he whirled her hairbrush in giant circular motions,
he just knew this sister he adores was about to be
completely gorgeous.
But not really realizing that apparently all that
fancy-schmancy movement and
the next thing
he knew was that big ol’ hairbrush
was snarled up and stuck in Miss Jubilee’s hair.
Ugh.
Now what?
Oh boy.

Not to worry.

He was gonna’ fix her hair anyway, right?
So just as he was gathering the scissors to cut that
doggone stuck hairbrush out of her hair
in walked Dad.
“In the nick-o’-time”
as another old saying goes.
And the mom on the other side of the
world sighs a giant sigh and can now
“sleep like a baby”.
Nite nite from Uganda.

  1. I kinda know the feeling! Only I was the victim . . . uh, mother. . . who let her 14 YEAR OLD, fully capable daughter who's been combing her mother's waist length hair since she was old enough to stand at my back, somehow twirl a comb starting at the end of that long hair right up tight to the scalp. Not just any part of my scalp. Nope. The very top. We worked (me, by touch since I don't have eyes on top of my head but only in the back) on getting that snarled, tangled and ever-tightening wad of hair loose from the comb for HOURS! I just could not bear to cut the hair but did cut the comb apart. Reminded me of when I was 3 and cut my bangs right off at the scalp and hid the hair in an empty dresser drawer. You know, so my mother wouldn't know I'd cut my own hair.
I'm so glad DW came into your son's beauty salon in time. lol Thanks for the laugh.
