Tucked Away

Savannah asked me this morning, “Hey Mom, would you like the day off?”  She was not working today and school is out till fall so being the sweet girl that she is, she invited me to do whatever I want today!

I’ve heard it said that there are two types of people in the world.  One type gets their strength from being in a crowd and the other gets their strength from being alone.

I am definitely one who gets my strength from being alone.  Even if it’s just for a few minutes in the laundry room putting a load of wash in or Ruby and I out on a walk….

But when offered a day alone?  Wow.

This is a rare privilege!  How grateful and blessed I am.

I have tucked myself away in our room where I have been listening to the same song play over and over and over {it’s played well over a 1,000 times in our home over the last 3 weeks}.  I’m sorting, praying, cleaning, praying, organizing, singing, and praying some more – reminding myself that His promises are always true – He will prevail!!

In the midst of my time I got an email from a bloggy friend named Jenn.

She asked if it was okay if she referenced our Place Called Simplicity in a blog post she’d written. Of course it was fine and I popped on her blog to read her post.  She had written about praying specifically and what she wrote ministered to my soul instantly.

I had to smile – Almighty God’s word does not ever return empty or void.

When we focus on the word of God, the truth of who He is and remind ourselves of His promises we are always encouraged and strengthened in our faith – even if the truths were words we wrote about not that long ago!

Luke 18: 1-8

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’ ”
And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

  1. I totally would have pegged you for the other type (the crowd type) listening to the way you blog about your kids. You seem to be so energized by having them around, having many of them, homeschooling, planning on never being an empty-nester. You seem to never get a break, and yet, you always seem so positive! Most of the moms I've observed like that are definitely more people persons than I am. I totally had you figured out all wrong! Seriously, though, how can you do what you do and yet still be an alone person? Only God, right? I have one child, and I'm going crazy most of the time!
So glad to hear you got some time alone. I know how much that means to get energy from that!
