Since Surgery

Miss Jubilee has been an awesome patient. And yes, Martha, the surgeon actually gave us some purple wrap for Jubilee’s Chinese baby doll Emmy had bought for her.  So when Jubilee was feeling a bit perkier I pretended I was the surgeon and fixed her baby (butter knife and all) and then wrapped her baby’s head.  She love, love, loved that!

Some of you asked if Jubilee had said it hurt prior to finding the problem.  Only a couple of times she said it hurt, even though I asked her regularly.  She must have a very high tolerance for pain, no doubt!  To have the infection having eaten her bone, must have been excruiatingly painful – but basically no complaints!

Talking to the surgeon yesterday he said said that the infection is still very serious.  It has to be watched closely.  So prayers for that would be greatly appreciated.

We are so thankful for all the prayers that have been offered on little Miss Jubilee’s behalf.  She is a treasure  from the heart of God!

  1. So thankful for God's perfect timing in bringing this to light!

And one of my last surgeries was a mastoid shunt. Very traumatic (Jubilee is a better patient! 🙂 and I can still feel where they did the surgery.

And they doctored up my Cabbage Patch doll during anesthesia too!

I really hope that treating this can bring about more healing for her. Praying.

  2. Hi Linny – Given the timing and extent, I am assuming that this may have been a result of an infection she got in China that went beyond the normal ear infection stage and that having been brought up in an orphanage, she did not complain – what was the use? I was shocked to find that this used to be one of the number one killers of children before we started treating ear infections with antibiotics. So this used to be pretty common in the US, but is not any longer (thankfully). I am assuming they are culturing the infection so they can be sure to use the right medication. However, you are at Stanford, so I am not going to worry too much – they know what to do. Thankful for God's wake up call before this was terminal.

  3. Praying for the infectino to be completely gone swiftly in Jesus name…
I expect that sweet Jubilee had lived with the pain so long it felt "normal" to her even though it hurt…Praise God for this miracle in her life.

  4. Incredible resilience when you look back every photo of her has that big incredible smile. And to know all the while her little body is dealing with such a major infection!! Will continue to pray for complete and swift recovery. Our blessings to the whole family.

  5. Hi Linny,

I've been praying for Jubilee, Ruby Grace, Sarah Jane, Karl, Autumn, and all of the rest of you!

I just sent you an email with a prayer request of my own… something we've talked about recently.

    Love you!

  6. It does amaze me that these dear adopted children have such a high pain tolerance. Sammy had strep for at least 4 weeks and never complained. We finally realized what the rash was- that was all over his tummy and back- and took him to the Dr.

Praying for your Jubilee and for Karl.
    Hugs to you sweet friend!
    Jean
