Over at our home we are celebrating a very special day.
New Years may be cause for celebration,
BUT not nearly the celebration as the birthday of our
Elizabeth Mercy
If you haven’t read her story, slide over to “Special Posts” and read the 7 part story of the miraculous save of her life by Almighty God.  It’s titled:  Our Wild Adventure Parts 1-7
Anyway, this precious treasure has been home now for three years and today she has turned 6.
This is the girl with the endless smile, spunky personality and bright outlook on every.single.thing.
If you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up she doesn’t miss a beat:
“I am going to work in Africa with the babies, 
because they really need me.”
And she will probably elaborate if you ask her more.
Today we were asking her {again} and without hesitation she said,
“I’m going to buy all the little kids scooters.  And the big ones, well I’m going to buy them all Ipods.”
“Ipods?”, we questioned.
“Uh-huh.  That way they’ll be busy texting and
 won’t be able to take the little kids food!”
Spoken out of her true experience.
Big kids take your food at the orphanages.
She knows.  
We  could never imagine our home without this little girl.
The one at the orphanage who was only two herself and was called, “the little mama”.  When a baby was laying on the ground crying, she would plop herself down, pull that crying little one over and stroke them to comfort them.
Yes, this girl understands.
And she is determined that she is going back to Africa to work with Emma and take care of all the little kids. 
So today we celebrate her life.
Her joy.
Her enthusiasm for life.
Her love for Jesus
and her love for others.

  8. This one, this Elizabeth tugs at my heart in so many ways. She causes me to cry at the goodness of the One who called her out of the pit. She is the princess that reminds me that even in the more dire situations GOD is there, His hand is there. HE knows her heart and her future. On this day Miss Elizabeth we celebrate you.
