Ever Wonder What a Hero Looks Like?

Soooo very good to have Whitey and Emmy home.
We went to pick them up last night.
Ruby smiled and cooed and shrieked and squealed –
her buddy is home and she is elated!
No doubt, this little chica is over-the-moon
for her Rescue-Hero Daddy of hers.
This morning Daddy, Ruby and I were laying in bed talking.
Catching up.
Stories that I hadn’t been able to share because of
the practicality of all the time zones, Skype charges
and details too plentiful to spend any amount
of time elaborating on.
Many exciting things happening to share….
things here and things there in Africa,
and we’ll be sharing details in the day to come…
We were talking, too, about Autumn’s wedding plans.
Suddenly I realized I had forgotten to tell Dw:
Remember the anesthesiologist, Mike {from out-of-state}
who by Almighty God’s divine orchestration
was with his wife and friends driving on that
rural Colorado road at
9:40am on Sunday, July 17th?
The man who laid down his plans to run to the scene?
The man who knows Christ as his Savior?
The man who used his medical expertise to hold
Karl’s compromised airway open till they
could med-flight him
to the Durango hospital?
Well a few weeks ago they were back in
the area and had opportunity to hang out
with Karl and Autumn and Bob and Vicki –
which was super exciting
{and yes, I had to totally give it to the Lord,
cause I soooo badly wanted to be there to thank
Mike andhis wife Sarah in person,
it was killin’ me not to be! ugh.}
Karl, Autumn, Sarah and Mike
BUT as joyful and extraordinary and crazy-wonderful
that they had been able to meet and get
together and see Karl walking and talking….
there was news that I couldn’t wait to tell Dw!
I had just learned  that when Mike and Sarah
heard Autumn and Karl’s wedding date
booked reservations to fly in for the wedding.
EEEEEEEKKKKK!

When I told Dw he started to cry, I started to cry….
and you know how it is? When you cry laying down, you
get tears in your ears…
We are ecstatic!
What a celebration the wedding is going to be!
All everyday heroes that Almighty God used
to spare Karl’s life:
the ER nurse on her way to her only shift that day?
Liz!
Liz’s going to be IN the wedding.
Stuart
our neurologist friend who told the trauma surgeon that Karl did have a chance if he were to send Karl somewhere closer or he wouldn’t survive?
Stuart “rsvp’d” that he and Jennifer wouldn’t miss it!
Katt
Coming to the wedding!!
and Mike
Flying in with Sarah to attend.

Isn’t it wonderful?
Four everyday heroes coming together to celebrate a life that ONLY God spared for a very special purpose…
Oh.my.gracious!
Faithful God!
And what a celebration it will be!
I soooo wish I could invite all you who
have prayed and fasted and prayed
some more for Karl to wake up, to come out of the coma and for his recovery…
Truly.

I wish I could.
{You guys are the best
and I am so thankful for each
and every one of you –
even you doggone lurkers.}
And if you think that a day passes
that I don’t say, “Oh.my.gracious.  Autumn and Karl
– the walking, talking, living miracle –
are really, truly getting married”
 you would be totally wrong!

  4. You should totally do a live feed of the wedding lol Wish we could all be there watching that amazing day unfold — but we will definitely be here in prayer as always!!

  5. I Was just reading your post to my 6 year old daughter, she remembers prone remiaying for Karl, and yes she wants to come to the wedding 🙂

I told her I thought you would post some beautiful pictures so we could rejoice with you all.

We talked about the hero doctor who also had Jesus in his heart. My little and girl told me the story of the good samaritan who was just like the doctor!

Just love how your blog gives me oppourtunity to talk about Jesus with my family, who is growing by the way, assignment 2 days ago and traveling in 2 months. Praise God.
