Celebrating

Many of you who’ve followed our journey have regularly
heard me mention Savannah.
She’s a sweet treasure who has lived off and on with us
over the last few years.
We feel like she’s one of “ours”
and she definitely knows we love her.
Recently a circumstance presented itself
for Savannah to move to Phoenix.
We welcomed her with open arms.
God has been working behind the scenes
and His faithfulness has been evident.
Savannah moved to Phoenix and
is currently living with us.
This fall she will, Lord willing, begin nursing school.
Anyway, I just was kinda’ feeling that it was time to
celebrate Savannah.
Since I mentioned it to her I have seen tears brim in her
eyes more than once.
Do you know what I mean?
Just a time of loving on her and
telling her how special she is to us and to the Lord.
So today’s her day.
We’re calling it her “Un-birthday Birthday Celebration”.
{Her birthday is in the fall.}
Anyway, yesterday she was almost giddy
anticipating today, it was so cute.
She chose everything about today…
Cinnamon rolls for breakfast in bed
Lunch date with Dw and I
{Graham and Ruby came too!}
Beef stroganoff for dinner
Mississippi mud for dessert
{and yes, she’s getting presents, too,
after all it’s her un-birthday birthday celebration!}
Emma Skyped in as we sang and she blew out the candles…
Happy Un-birthday Birthday Savannah Grace,
We are so thankful that you are here with us –
because we love you oh-so-much!

  1. Happy Happy Un-birthday, Savannah Grace! We have a "grace" in our family, too–an undeserved gift from God. I'm glad that you are a special gift to the Place Called Simplicity family. It's wonderful to see your beautiful face in the family gathering photos. Best wishes for a great start in nursing school.

  7. Hi Savannah, Happy Unbirthday!

    This is from http://www.bravegirlsclub.com

    "Dear Beloved Girl,

    You get to choose, please don't ever forget that. You get to choose who you want to be and how you want to be. You get to choose to walk away when things don't feel right and you get to choose to stick around and help the person that no one else will talk to. You get to choose to work hard at things that are important to you and you get to choose to learn about things that are interesting to you.

    You have lots of minutes in every day to make lots of choices…and all of those choices add up together to make your life. EVERY CHOICE MATTERS. Choose the best you can…think about your choices and choose the best you can every time…and when you make mistakes…choose to get back up and choose better the next time.

    You are important, dear girl. YOU MATTER. Your life matters and your choices matter.

    Now go out and make the world a better place! You can do it!

    You are so very loved!
    Xoxo"

    I love the power behind these words, and I hope you have a great experience!

  8. Happy Un-birthday, Savannah! Know that you are dearly LOVED and WANTED today (and everyday!) Best wishes as you prepare to start nursing school- enjoy the journey!
