Been a wild few days over here in the desert.
Nine of the eleven of us have had a nasty bug
that seems to be lingering longer than most…
Even Ruby had the bug.

All that translates to lots of Little House on the Prairie episodes.
Dw did manage to paint a first coat on the cabinets.
It looks amazing.

I have to tell you, every one of you had an opinion and
I definitely took them to heart.
Contessa said that the one in the middle
{which I was leaning toward}
would make the kitchen look more dated.
Contessa – that hit home!
I could not get her comment out of my thoughts.
The look I want is brighter, cause the kitchen does not get much sun until
mid-afternoon, not to mention, I do not want
to start with “dated”.
ugh.
hollym you suggested the island and silver fridge, etc,
and true story, whiter white would look best with those.

which was brightest.
Renee you wondered what color the kitchen would be?
Good question.
Well, so what did I do?
I went to the store and found another white.
Why?
Cause even though I liked the brighter one,
I did not like the name of it.
Anyone of you have to like the name
as much as the color, or is that just me?
I seldom get new paint,
so I want to love both the name and the color.
So what color does a girl who grew up in Buffalo choose?
Snowbound.
Seriously.
It makes me smile.
And the next time someone questions
{after learning we left the mountains of Colorado
for the desert} saying,
“Oh, don’t you miss Colorado and the snow??”
I can say,
“I have my favorite kind of white stuff….
it’s the color of my cupboards –
Snowbound!”

After Dw painted the cupboards the first coat
I quietly mentioned, “I don’t like the green walls
anymore.” He turned and said, “I knew you were gonna’ say that.”
The hunt is on for a new wall color.
It’s the cheapest way to get a new look and
it’s really fun to make the house feel like ours.
On a completely separate note,
Ruby has begun to scrunch her nose up when she is being silly with us.
Pffffft.
And they said she’d never do anything.
Every day she is more and more aware of life around her.
Lastly,
Ruby is having surgery on Tuesday.
Also, my friend, Dave,
starts his bone marrow transplant on Wednesday.
And many, many, many of you have written lately
with heavy, heavy concerns
weighing on your hearts.

If so I have one. We have a meeting that could open the flood gates and allow our family to move ahead with adoption (and various other opportunities). Without going into the gory details please pray for strength (I don't want to cry through the meeting:) ), wisdom and for what has been done in darkness to be brought to light. AND for my sister and mother. My sister has been taking up where my mother has slacked off in the (if you say your a Christian you should do or say ….) They have a hard time with truth and consequences. Thanks a bunch! Sheri
I love to paint everything around here. I am always moving furniture around trying to find a way to make more room or seem like we have more room. Or to make things more functional as our life changes and the kids grow and needs change. So with all that change comes painting too. Nothing brightens up a room and makes it seem so clean as a fresh coat of paint. Nothing makes me happier so cheaply as changing a color in a room or look of a wall or furniture with a different color. Sorry you all have been sick. Will be praying for that bug to clear on out. Well happy-painter-friend…you go girl!! Since the MS in my arms gives me fits if I try to paint, Dw is the paint-man in our home and so it doesn't happen much…but I totally agree, there is nothing like a cheap way to change the look of a room or wall. Thank you for joining in on Tuesday. xo

Someone gave me a camera as a gift. I am so excited. I have longed for a Canon Rebel for probably at least 12 years…and finally{!} I have one. I am giddy…and the pictures are a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

Do your cupboards close slowly or can you slam them shut? We just painted our cabinets last summer. We also added the slow closure mechanisms…wonderful!!! My hubby always hated the sound of the doors being slammed. They are only like $100 for 25 of them in amazon and work like a dream. I had no idea they sold them separately. If you ever want that type of upgrade check it out.
Now on to more important matters. We are so close to bringing home our boys. They have an embassy appt this Wednesday. Problem is they don't have there passports yet! They will miss there appt if they don't have them by Wednesday. We already have tickets to leave August 10, we would love to not get postponed.

Well for real, I took it to heart and the *last* thing I wanted was a dated looking kitchen…although it looked really pretty in a kitchen picture I had seen, that definitely did not look dated. But now with Snowbound, I love the color and I love the name!! So thank you. Have not thought about door slammers…will mention to the boss-man…As far as prayer requests, please would you put it on tomorrow's post in the way of a comment….many will be praying through the requests? I just prayed for favor and expedient passports!

Amazing! I was just lying in bed this morning…thinking on our life's troubles and wondered, "When will Linny have another fasting and prayer day?" I had pondered whether today would be my day to fast. I've gotten a little weary with heartache and thought "what's the use? It is what it is." I'm so glad the Lord shows us when He is speaking. Thanks so much.

Hi All
would you pray for a "miracle" for us! We have just been informed that our dossier is at the courts in our boys' home country in Eastern Europe, as of last Monday. If we are to bring them home early September, we would need a miracle to get a date assigned and court to happen by the end of this week! The courts recess for 6 weeks….making our pick up trip sometime in October or November. We would get on a plane tomorrow! BUT not outside of God's plan for our entire family! We have another precious 6 yr. old that has been working through some of the trauma he endured early in his life… we know that God will bring him home when it is the best time for all of our family! God is never late and He is never early! Please pray for our hearts to have peace and contentment until we can bring our twin 4yr. old boys home! And please pray for freedom from the past for our Levi! Trusting Him for all of it!

I have picked paint for it's name recently! Last July my husband died, leaving me and four children (adopted from China) reeling. It was unexpected but not sudden, he'd been sick for about 6 weeks. Anyway, against common wisdom, I moved us to a new house in December. It was in a neighborhood my husband and I always wanted to live in. It was minutes from the kids' school instead of 16 miles. It is smaller than our old home but more efficient in it's use of space and had the same number of rooms. Most importantly I had prayed for days before touring it, "Lord, I am not up to a long discernment process here. When I walk in the house I want to know 'yes' or 'no' and I want it for this price." As soon as I walked in I knew. I knew my husband would love it for us. It has been a wonderful place of healing for our hearts. Anyway, back to the paint. I was looking for a paint that would be calming for my bedroom. I found a beautiful gray-blue with hints of green that would compliment my bedding. What sealed the deal for me was it's name – "Contented." I had just said two days earlier to my priest, "The thing I want most in my life right now is to be content where I am now." My son also wanted a white bedroom but I didn't want it white-white. So I found a white that had blue undertones. His favorite animal is an Arctic Fox. The paint color – "Arctic." Lastly, I first picked out a white called "Panda white" for my kitchen cabinets and sunroom trim because my kids are Chinese. However, it looked grayish and I wanted a more creamy, brighter white. Then I found "Dover White" and since I grew up near Dover, NJ, I chose that. It's perfect. Crisp, clean, and beautiful. The paint, not Dover, NJ.
I love the pic of Ruby and Elizabeth. It's so much fun to watch the Lord perform miracle after miracle in your sweet daughter's life!
Ruby in hospital? Was she not able to keep her meds down? Or just dehydrated from the sickness? Will be praying for sure. Bless her heart.
