It’s Today

The surgeon’s office was able to reschedule Ruby’s surgery.
We are heading to Phoenix Children’s Hospital in a few minutes.

I haven’t mentioned this surgeon before, but when we met him a
couple of months ago, like always,
I showed him Ruby’s picture when she was found,
and one that I have not publicly shown.

Ruby trying a teeny speck of frozen yogurt the other day.  She kind of liked it!

He became so overcome with powerful emotion that he had to leave the room.
When he returned he brought some of his office staff to meet our littlest treasure.
This highly skilled man is clearly a tenderhearted guy.
His staff treated her like royalty
{as our princess so deserved} –
it was so beautiful.

Due to Ruby’s severe malnourishment, her teeth are in excruciating disarray,
so she is having extensive oral surgery done in the operating room.

To possibly complicate it all – when I was in Africa a few months ago
she became a finger-sucker.
With all the trauma this sweet baby girl has endured in her short life,
it was actually a relief to my heart to have her be able to soothe herself.
It was also what helped for her to sleep through the night
{after 18 months home}.

I have no idea how the surgery will affect her finger-sucking….

Unbeknownst to Ruby, there is a worldwide contingency of
Ruby-lovers out there who have prayed for her,
cheered for her and celebrated her

Would you please pray for the surgeon’s hands today,
the surgical team, success, protection and
our precious treasure to be comforted by Almighty God?
Even though she has had five brain surgeries now,
we do not take lightly this surgery.
I so wish I could go in for her.

    1. Oh sweet Leo. We will pray for Leo. Ruby's surgery is 3 hours…very involved. So thankful for a surgeon who appreciates the power of prayer as evidenced by what he said this morning when we told him that people were praying…xo

  1. Dear Ruby, It'll get worse for a little while…then it'll get better! Waaaaay better. For me too! I'm praying for you child, and coming from me, Momma Linny knows, that's a lot.

  2. Will be praying for your sweet Ruby today. For Gods hand of protection over her. That God will give the doctors and nurses wisdom and guide their hands. God is so very good…wow…A finger sucker!!! That is so very good. It is good progression for her to put her fingers into mouth like that and also soothe herself. Praise God!

    1. I was so tickled that she decided to be a finger sucker. She's such a lovey, but clearly, needed some sort of ability to self-soothe. Thank you for your prayers my friend.

    1. This mama was having a hard time leaving her in the OR {they let me go in to hold her until she was asleep}. I was fighting tears. Already through so much…as all will read when I publish her book. Thank you for praying for us.

  3. That little girl has the best smile! I'll be praying too. May the arms of God hold little Ruby, and gently rock her and caress her as she has surgery today. May His countenance rise up upon Ruby today. And I declare a special blessing over you Linny, mom of many……May the presence of the Holy Spirit collapse in on you from all sides today, squishing you with amazing heavenly peace. You are good people my friend.

  4. Oh sweet Ruby cakes we are praying. I had to have one of mine at 3 be put under for the same thing. I remember holding him as they gave him the sleepy stuff oh my gosh it was hard. so I am wrapping arms around you Linny and know He is there with her as he was with my Ethan. It was a rough couple of days following but it helped him start eating again and I am believing that she will be chomping on down like he was when it is healed. She is moving the hearts of people for His glory. Love that..love her!

    1. Thank you so much lori. It was so painful to hold her as she fell asleep in the OR with the mask on. ugh. Thankful that the Lord's ministering angels are in there with her and that He holds her in the palm of His hand.

  5. I'm praying! I love seeing her joyful grins . . . and her beautiful, healthy skin . . . and her squishy chubby legs! What's not to love about Ruby Grace? Praying for an easy recovery.

  6. Prayers coming her way! I pray that it all went well and that the surgeon had steady hands and a knowing heart and mind! Bless Ruby! She is such a joy to watch and love from afar! Her smile goes on for miles and she is going to do great great things!!! Blessings to you and yours!
