Cruel Reality

This morning we met up with some of
our precious street boys…
we were dismayed to find
they were barefoot.
Two had put them
somewhere they thought would be safe,
but instead they were stolen.
Another washed his sneakers off
{it had rained and was so muddy}
and put them in the sun to dry near him…
However, as they were drying,
they were grabbed by someone
who ran off with them.
Cruel reality.
Sometimes life is so horribly painful..
and my guess is that most of life
for a little boy who lives on the streets
is stinkin’ yukky.
Pray for them with us.

 “Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless;
maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
Rescue the weak and needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Psalm 82: 3,4

  1. Hello Linny~ I have been following your blog for a while and have learned so much from your sweet posts. I am commenting today…not so that you will publish this, but to ask if we might be able to partner. I am starting a Non profit called The Denim Project which upcycles denim to uplift women and children through job creation, education and adoption. In other words, we take old jeans and make them into new stuff: quilts, aprons, tag blankets, potholders, etc. , sell them (I tell you this so that you know I am not looking for money! 🙂 )and use the money for job creation, microloans, education, skills-training, and adoption. We are in the early stages of setting everything up and we are looking to work here and in Haiti (as we have contacts there who can help us identify women to partner with) and we are looking for other smaller organizations in other countries to partner with who have boots on the ground. The idea I have at this juncture is to offer microloans to women in need to help set them up with a sewing machine and training in the use of it. The blankets and bags we sell are going to be the Better BOGO: buy one, give one so for every blanket/bag purchased one will be donated to someone in need. Instead of sending blankets/bags made here to other countries, I would like to contract with these women to make the blankets/bags in country from used jeans and fabric. They would be free to use the machine for other work, but the contract for the blankets/bags is one way to get them started with an income. If you would like more information, please email me at jelopopp@hickorytech.net.
    My parents have a home in Sun City West and I am very tempted to hop a ride with them the next time they travel down to Phoenix just to give you a hug and meet your precious children.
    Keep up the God work.
