The Rocks

Is anyone else as giddy as we are
knowing that
Joshua is slowly healing?
I’m not a medical person in any way,
but I do know that heart attacks
often cause serious damage
to the heart structure and function.
I can’t imagine that it hadn’t caused
some damage when Joshua’s brand
new heart
had the cardiac arrest.
The medical team knew that that
new heart needed to rest.
I can’t imagine a much scarier
place to be in, then what Jennifer and
Bob were in.
Enter Almighty God.
When we were having our day of
prayer and fasting I was thinking about
Joshua’s name and the Joshua
who led the Hebrew nation into
 the promised land.
He had a purpose.
He was courageous.
He led the way.
And of course, we firmly believe that
God’s heart was stirred when
the body prayed and fasted
together for sweet
little
Joshua
and his brand new heart.
And with the enormous victories
that are taking place daily up
in Joshua’s CICU room
we just have to Praise Him.

In fact did you know that God’s word says this:
“I tell you,” Jesus replied,
“if you keep quiet,
the stones will cry out.”
Luke 19:40
Could it be that Jesus was telling us that we
are to praise Him?
Come to think about it,
what’s a rock’s job anyway?
Surely it’s to look stunning.
To climb on.
To sit on.
To throw.
To build things.
But it is definitely not to praise the Lord.

Think about it.

The stones have nothing to praise Him for,
they’re just rocks…
yet He will cause the stones to cry out
if we don’t.
Does anyone remember the
old song?

“We bring a sacrifice of praise,
into the house of the Lord.
We bring a sacrifice of praise,
into the house of the Lord.
And we offer up to you,
sacrifices of thanksgiving
and
we offer up to you,
the sacrifices of joy.”

The other day when we were about to pray as family
for Joshua, I suddenly remembered that
long-forgotten old worship song and
I knew I had to teach it to the kids.
{The kids don’t mind my voice
cause they love me so much. Ha!}

They loved learning the song
with all the hand motions
 and so we have
been having times of thanksgiving
and praise with that song in particular.
Besides Joshua, we as a family,
are “praising” Him for some yet unseen things
that our family is contending for.
Some very specific things
that we desperately need
Him to move on our behalf for.
We will praise Him while we wait.

We will praise Him for what He is doing
behind the scenes on our family’s behalf.
We will praise Him for His faithfulness.

We will praise Him for all the things He has already done.
We would never want to think that a rock
would have to do
what God made our hearts naturally to long for.

Praise Him with us.
In fact have a “Praise Party” at your home.
Joshua’s heart healing and weaning off of the
life support is definitely not something
we should let the rocks rejoice over…

celebrate with us before the throne…
“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth,
burst into jubilant song with music.”
Psalm 98:4

  1. Rejoicing over Joshua's daily improvements! He is faithful! Will keep praying unceasingly!! Praying for you, sweet Linny, and all that concernth you! "The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever!" Psalm 138:8

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Psalm 28:7-8 ~praying <3cindy

  2. Another verse I thought of reading this was when the people of Israel were instructed to pile rocks in memorial to all God has done, like Memorial Box Monday. God is good. So good. It is beyond amazing to slowly start to realize His plans in your life. Realizing that they are so much better and more majestic and awe-inspiring than anything you could have dreamed up.
