Nehemiah’s Miracle

Sometimes there are things that I just can’t share for one reason or another.

So was the case over the last few months of a situation with our Nehemiah.
It was kept just among siblings {who rallied around this precious brother}, my mom
and a few prayer warriors because of the uncertainty of it all.
But today I can share about it all from a victory side
as God has graciously heard our many prayers –
Praise His name!
It will forever be a Memorial Box story for our family and we will have a special treasure
{still not sure what} put in the Box soon!  {Would love some ideas, if you have them?!}
I share this today because I know there are many struggling with situations in life
that have taken them by surprise.
Our declaration is that God is still on the throne!
There are others who are hurting and grieving.
The Lord’s comfort is available to all.
And there are others who they themselves have health needs or their loved one has a health care.
This is to encourage all that God does heal and that He still performs miracles.
*******
Several weeks ago I began to notice some very specific symptoms in Nehemiah.
They weren’t anything I was really able to piece together, but they were noticeable to this mama.
I was able to get Nehemiah into our pediatrician quite quickly.
When I went I told the doc of the symptoms and also mentioned, “God’s word doesn’t lie,
it says that the eye is the lamp of the whole body.  His eyes are telling me that
something is really wrong.”
He ordered some tests.
When he phoned he said, “Well, you’re right, there is something wrong.
I am sending you to a specialist as soon as possible.”
Two days later we were at the specialists office.
The specialist was very kind but said, “I’m really concerned.”
There were even more extensive tests ordered.  This time though the results were all
over the spectrum.  The specialist said, “I’m baffled.  I have no idea what we are
dealing with, but something is definitely wrong.”
Then last Wednesday evening he called and said, “I am putting Nehemiah’s symptoms
and the test results on a Medical Board on the internet so I can get weigh-in
from some of the top specialists in the nation.  I just want you to know.”
Thursday morning, before I was even out of bed {Ruby and I were awake, but we
hadn’t moseyed out yet} he phoned.  He began, “I don’t want to alarm  you, but
Radiology at the hospital will be calling soon.  We need to get Nehemiah in for an
MRI STAT.  There was a large response to the posting on the Medical Board and
I don’t want to scare you, but the overwhelming response was this:
‘Get that kid in for an MRI STAT!
We’re pretty sure he has a brain tumor!'”
The Lord had already been whispering this to me so I wasn’t shocked, however,
Dw and I both felt like throwing up!
Radiology called within a few minutes eventually the MRI was set up for the next day
which was last Friday.
Can I just say how grateful I am for all my Shower Hostesses {Robin, Rebecca,
Kathryn and Kimmy} and all their teams and all of you who ‘attended’ the showers?
My life was so very overwhelmed in the midst of
Nee’s situation and the Hostesses and teams did an
amazing job of bountifully blessing the orphans!!

Thank you – thank you – thank you!!
Anyway, they allowed me to stand with Nehemiah and hold his hand for the full 90 minutes
they did the MRI.  He fell asleep during it and somehow, even in his sleeping, his head moved enough that they did not get a clear enough picture!
So they said they would have to call in an anesthesiologist and do it anesthetized on
Saturday which was the next day.
Nehemiah was a trooper and so brave and courageous.  We have been studying the life
of Joshua and it was so appropriate – our strong and courageous boy!
Then the wait began.
I had been emailing our children’s pastor {he’s such a blessing!} and keeping
him up-to-date and so on Sunday he asked if he and the Assistant Children’s Pastor
could pray over Nehemiah and anoint him with oil according to James 5.

We readily agreed.
After the morning service we gathered in his office as a family as we prayed together and they anointed Nee with oil.  It was a powerful time.
The week-end was pretty much a wash as we waited for the doctor to phone with the results.
Monday we couldn’t stand waiting another minute and I phoned him.  The girl looked at the results and said, “Let me get the doctor to talk to you.”
I hate when they say that!!
He came on the phone and said, “Well, the scans were clear after the MRI with anesthesia and we can rule out the Brain Tumor.”
I questioned him, “Wait!  He doesn’t have a brain tumor?”
“No, his brain is clear and he definitely does not
have a brain tumor!”
Oh the relief!!
Gracious God, how we praise your name!
They are still concerned as to what is going on, and after consulting some more experts
around the nation, they have ordered more blood

work that will be sent to a place in Ohio

{go Ohio!} because of the different methodology used in obtaining the results.
Although we would chosen to praise the Lord regardless of the results,
we are humbled that He has heard our prayers and answered.
Do we think Nee did have a tumor and God healed him?  We do.
We can’t prove it, but we do.  Either way, He is powerful and His name is
Jehovah Rapha – the God who heals.

We contend for Nehemiah’s full healing and thank all who will pray with us for that.

  1. Oh Linny God most certainly is still in the miracle making business! I BELIEVE NEE WAS HEALED! I have to share my recent journey. On Monday September 22 I called my doctor's office to obtain blood test results from the prior week. Usually my vit D is low and iron. The nurse was reading off the results, everything was coming up normal and then she stopped and said, "I need to put you on hold for a moment," ….I hate when that happens! When she got back on the phone my world stopped, she said "You have hepatitis C, Dr. Tan is requesting a validation test from the lab." HEP C, WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE HEP C????

I had to go back in and give more blood, then the wait began, had to wait through the weekend. Monday Sept 29 I was told the blood work came back NEGATIVE FOR HEP C!!! It was most certainly a miracle and the power of prayer I am convinced! Oct 1 more blood was drawn and sent to the lab for validation. During the time I was waiting God and I had many talks, I told Him, "God I don't want to have this disease, I don't want to even think about the treatment involved, I'm not ready to leave my babies, BUT more importantly I want YOUR WILL to be done. Whatever that looks like, I will walk that journey and I know You will be walking it with."

Rejoicing for Nee and for me!!!

    Blessings,
    Suzanne

  2. Oh I will be praying for Nehemiah. Some how the Lord has been telling me to keep you lifted before the Lord because something was overwhelming you. So, I will keep praying for you, too.
I am so glad there have been some positives already. Big hugs dear lady…

  3. Oh yeah. me again. about the memorial box. I thought of a brick…the Bible Nehemiah rebuilt the walls. In this case, it is like God removed one. and as well you are using the Lego building team here on the blog to represent the problems. So, question is, can you squirrel a Lego brick away from the team? 😉
