The Mod Squad

This week I have the privilege of begin taking a course to become a chaplain for our police department. I have wanted to do this for years, but it just hasn’t been the right timing. But today the course starts and I am so excited. When I was a girl I used to want to be Julie on The Mod Squad – she was just soooo cool. Infact in high school I had a special friend (whose name was Dick) that owned an MG and we would drive around our town being our own version of The Mod Squad. He, of course, was Pete and we had a “Linc” who joined us from time to time. Dick and I actually, once, helped our police department “solve” a crime. No joke! It was a blast and we were so proud of ourselves!

As I near 5-0 my dream of being Julie from The Mod Squad has faded (a bit) but I am so excited about the opportunity to minister to my community – going on calls where the family needs to be notified of a death, talking to officers who are struggling, and maybe even performing a wedding from time to time! I can’t wait!
