Don’t Think “Creamy Natural” is Your Color, Dude

It was awfully quiet one day last week….
so I thought I ought to go take a peek………..
*
Knowing his history, my mind filled with fear…..
And what to my wandering eyes should appear……
*
What on earth? What in tarnation?
He’d gotten into Emma’s foundation…..
*
“Creamy natural” here, a little “Creamy Natural” there,
Even a little “Creamy Natural” in his eyebrow hair……
I could tell he was thinkin’ that stuff disappeared way too fast……
Maybe a swish of Emma’s blush brush will help make it last…..Up, up, over his head…..
“Come out you last drip! Come out!,” he said…He’s smilling, he’s laughing, having quite the time…
Probably wondering how much longer till mommy will find…..Oh wait! What is this? Could it be Emmy’s Bath & Body lotion?
Maybe just a dab of her extra special stinky potion….
Streeeeeeeeeetch, reeeeach, way in the back…..
Digging around, this little guy has quite the knack….. Ahhhh, yeah. That’s the ticket….
This stuff smells so good, I think I could just lick it.What else is in here? Maybe some nail polish will add to the fun…..
Gracious be, big sis Emmy’s drawer sure contains a ton! Whew! That job’s done. How exactly do I look?
Wow! Seems like I did it straight by the book…..
*
Mom always says I’m her hunka hunka burnin’ love,
Something about being a little treasure sent from above….
What in the world? Exactly what the heck?
Upon closer examination I think I missed a little speck…..
Uh-oh, it’s mommy. She’ll spoil it all.
She found me now. Doggone it. I didn’t even hear her call.

Maybe she won’t notice. Maybe she can’t tell.
My mommy’s weird though. She doesn’t even usually yell.

She gets her camera out. She even laughs out loud. She always says her bloggy friends will be so proud.

*
She says she wants everyone in the whole wide world to see.

(Although some of her friends think she’s out of her tree….)

That being a mommy of a toddler at the age of fifty-one
Is exhilirating, it’s the best, it’s crazy fun!!

  1. I think Miss Emmie has been reading your blog. Today I found her a little "blue".
She is a big fan of your Me E who I do believe is the master of all things"fun".
At least Emmie is learning from the best.
    Hugs

  2. Oh so very cute!! Good smile for the morning!!

Just what I need to start my day in my 40's with my two youngest who keep me hopping—and they are not toddlers!!

  3. for all that's sane…girl, you are NOT.

;o)to plunk down and take pictures of his fun…and write a totally cute poem to boot…all to show the world his cuteness. wow. you rock.

  4. Another talent…You're a poet, Linny! : )

What cracks me up is that you stand there taking pictures of the whole thing. Hilarious! I'm going to go back and read it again to my kids this time. : )

  5. Oh my goodness, how do you stand and watch him? I would have been having a hissy fit…especially when he went after the nail polish. You are an awesome mommy. Anything for a good laugh on your blog, right?

  6. I'm laughing so hard at this poem and the pictures. What fun at 51!! I just love it. He is just so stinking cute even with all the stuff on his face.

Sent you an e-mail this morning.

    hugs, love and prayers

  7. Oh, Linny! I don't know how you do it! That would just about put me over the edge! I love your attitude and it is a great reminder to me to put things in perspective and that they grow up way too fast! Love it!

  8. Priceless pictures!!! I love it when the house is quiet, but after a few minutes I get concerned about what's going on too:-)
Just a concerned advise here (hope you don't mind)…I heard a loud crash this morning ran upstairs to find one of my 4 yr olds on the floor and his huge, heavy chest of drawers toppled on the floor. God's grace was upon him and he somehow managed to get knocked back and just the corner of the dresser glanced across one of his feet. I figured that since my youngest were all 4 that I didn't need to anchor the dressers to the wall. I shudder to think what could have happened if God had not intervened. So, my advise is to anchor your (not just you Linny, but all moms) dressers and bookcases to the wall so little ones can't knock them over onto themselves when they use them as a ladder. Thanks for letting me get that out:-)

  9. Know what you mean…came downstairs yesterday and Sierra decided to use the baby powder to make the recliner and couch"so soft" I couldn't even breath . I thought of you Linny and took pictures but the powder was so fine you coudn't see it. Of couse I didn't take photos of me vacuuming her hair off!!! Didn't yell either but there was a consequence. Sort of changed my opinion on that when she tried to put my last pair of contacts in her eyes" like Mommy" and ripped them in half. It took me 2 months to save for new ones and had to wear my old scratched glasses. So she is 4 now and even though I won't ( or try not to ) yell there will be a little consequence!! But her and I did laugh about the mess yesterday. She told her Daddy she was "helping me" make things nice!!!!LOL!!!! I love it!!!!

  11. We just had three toddler grandchildren for three days. I did a lot of laughing. If it's not dangerous it is so fun just to see what they will do. You know it! : )

  12. OH MY!!! Unless you have a child under the age of 5 you can't really understand how quickly those little ones can get into trouble. An atomic disaster of this proportion probably took him about a minute. The pictures are priceless.

Good thing your sweet Emma loves her siblings and is a natural beauty.

  13. oh my gosh how funny! so what do you do in those cases where they did something that you would probably let them know not to do again yet you want to laugh and take pics because its so funny? I would love advice on that since I know that will probably happen to me one day! HOPEFULLY! :0)

  14. Oh my!! I just love reading this little man's antics! He is such a hoot!! How do you EVER get anything done? You are blessed to have such a fun little guy to hang out with every day!!! I love that you find the humor in most situations and are not the rant & rave type mom!!
I am surprised though that his doesn't seem to be burning!! I think he needs a few lessons in the technique of applying foundation!

    Hugs,
    Carla

  15. Good job on the poem!! It so works!! Oh my Elijah!! You have a very nice Momma plus it helps that you are so adorable!

Sorry Emma about the makeup! Hope you could salvage some of it!!

Love your post Linny, it made me smile!! God Bless you!!

  16. I sure wish I was a fifty-one year old mommy of my two toddlers. I wonder if I would have more patience. I can laugh that it happened at your house, but at mine…well, that is a totally different story. Thanks for making me stop and think and maybe next time it happens here I will think about you and grab my camera and NOT yell!
