Third Day

Hey do you guys remember last fall when I posted about getting an email from {Aimee} wife of Third Day‘s lead singer, Mac Powell, right? I wrote about it all here.
Over the last year Aimee and I have corresponded and the other day she wrote and asked if we knew Third Day was going to be in concert near us. Did we know? Let’s be honest here. Third Day was THE reason Dw, Emma and Graham were going to the outdoor music festival! Although Aimee was not going to the concert, she hoped that we were and that we could meet Mac. Oh my!! My three were stinkin’ stoked!!
So the other day, Dw, Emma and Graham left at just about the crack of dawn to drive to the outdoor music festival. And all day they waited….cause, no doubt, the creator of the festival knows that it’s just the way to do things – to save the very best till last….
In the early evening, my three were taken by a Tour Manager to a secure location and there they met the man behind the incredible songs of worship and praise….Mac Powell… .
I asked Dw, “So what was he like babe?” My husband’s response? One word. “Humble”. My three were blown away by his humility and grace as they spent time with him. {Just in case you are wondering, I wrote to Aimee and asked if it was okay if I share about their meeting? I mean, come on!  How could we keep this special treat a secret??  Anyway, she said I could share it.}
Anyway, they talked for awhile. They talked about the orphan. They talked about adoption. They talked about life. They talked about how Aimee and I need to get together one of these days! {That sounded good to us!} And then Dw asked if they could get a picture. Mac took them inside their tour bus and introduced him to the band.
My three said the time with Mac and Third Day was a once in a lifetime kind of highlight!
Then Mac asked if there was some way to get them some sweet seating. His manager grabbed some tickets for them to sit right behind and beside where he sang from. At one point Mac was introducing the band and said, “And behind the piano, my friends all the way from….” and waved to my three. They were tickled beyond words.
So sweet bloggy friends, there you have it….Mac and Aimee are the real deal. They passionately love God. They love the orphan. They love adoption!! {Did you know they just brought home a little one, again?}!!
Mac singing there behind them….
And so I just had to share a bit of our summer joy…..I knew you guys would think it was sweet too. How I thank the Lord for His Crazy Love being shown to us “just for nothing” by Mac and Aimee – two Crazy-in-love-with-God friends!

  4. What a special treat!!!

    When my husband and I were dating 15 years ago, and living in CA attending Bible college, we made the trip to see a load of christian artists at an amusement park. Third Day were literally starting out and it was the first time we had ever heard of them. Because he was "unknown" at that time, he stood for ages just hanging out with the people and we were able to chat to him for awhile. We bought their first CD. We realised then that he was the real deal and have loved their music ever since.

    And knowing their heart for adoption confirms that they have a heart after the Lord!!!

  5. Wow…that is so cool. My boys would love to meet them!
    Linny, my friend "D" is in Africa right now going to court Fri morning for full Adoption. She is the one who e-mailed you about the crazy love cards. If you can please join us in prayer Thurs. night (Fri. @ 9am in Africa). Several of us including the orphange director feel that this is a HUGE Spirtual battle. It has hit hard and fast! Thanks Shanna

  6. That is so wonderful! My husband and I met(1996) when I was visiting my uncle, his youth pastor, from out of state. The youth group went to a Third Day concert and we ended up sitting next to each other. When we started dating(2006)we went to another Third Day concert! And well now the rest is history 😉 We married and we've adopted our first daughter, and she has heard more Third Day songs than any other musician and she loves to dance along with them! We are beginning our second adoption journey and can't wait to see who God has in store for our family. And our little girl can't wait to have someone to dance to Third Day with! 🙂

  7. Just have to add that I LOVE that Quito Pinchinca shows up on your live traffic feed when I visit! Two years in the making Linnie! that is something I need to add to my memory Box, an Ecuadorian flag!Love you and glad to hear THird Day has a heart for the Orphan too!
