They’re Off!

Part of the June Uganda GO Team gathered at
our home just a few minutes ago.
Thirteen are leaving from our area and joining nine bloggy friends two stops from now…for a total of 22 on the team.
Excitement was in the air!

Elijah is bummed Daddy leaving for three weeks.

Left-Right {front}: Cristina, April, Josh, Chris and Chrissy
Left-Right {back}:  Taylor, Alei, Emma, Jan, Savannah, Graham, Dw, Steve
{Chris and his wife Chrissy pastor a church in a neighboring town.}
This trip Dw will be teaching his FOURTH Legacy Pastor’s Conference.  The Legacy Conference was started by Dw in an effort to train indigenous pastors.  Pastors in Uganda are very poor, have no resources and little training.   {Unlike America where pastor’s conferences are a dime a dozen and resources are readily available.} Dw’s heart wants these men to understand the calling of God on their lives to live a life of complete integrity, moral purity and Biblical obedience, thereby leaving a LEGACY that matters!
Dwight started the first Legacy Conference was almost 3 years ago and had about 75 pastors attend in the rural village.  Last year there were about 300 pastors who attended.
It is now estimated that there are over l,000 pastors teaching these principles throughout Uganda and even a few outside Uganda.
This year it is anticipated that there will be 750 pastors attending next week.  The pastors walk for miles to come and be taught the word of God.  Dw makes a spiral bound notebook up with teaching notes {and answers} so that the pastors can then teach the series to those they have the privilege of training or pastoring.
This year Dw invited Chris and Steve to go along and each will teach one session.  Neither Chris nor Steve have taught in a third world country and neither have ever been to Africa.   Chris and Steve are both excited to have this amazing opportunity.
We raise money to sponsor pastors for this conference.  It costs about $10.00 for each pastor to come and be fed while there – it’s a two day conference.  So we had to raise about $7,500.00 for the attendees to come.  God showed up {big time} and about TWO days ago it was paid for!  {Whew, that was a little close for our liking…but we’ve always said, HE loves to be Jehovah of the Last Second.}
The printer who printed all 1,000 books this year donated the time and supplies so they were completely covered {this year}.
A total gift from the Lord!!  And we pray that God blesses that kindhearted printer and his wife a million times over.

Well in the midst of typing this post our internet went down. Ya  know the internet we had repaired this morning? Yeah that one.  So it lost what I had typed and I am now trying to post from my cell. So I guess we ought to add our internet to the prayer list. haha.

Anyway, I will be posting a post for everyone to share their prayer requests right after midnight. Please join us in praying (if possible fasting as well) for one another.

  1. Praying for them! And praying about my envy, too. 😉

    And I am absolutely praying for you and the littles, sweet friend! (Some friends of mine were just in Durango like yesterday & I told them it made me sad, because y'all don't even know each other, so I couldn't tell them to hug you for me, if they saw you.)

  2. I commit to pray for each of the 22 members of the team by name each day. Can't wait to hear the praise reports!!!
