16 Simple Words

You know how many times over the years I have mentioned
how thankful I am for you guys, my precious bloggy friends?
Well heads up…
I am  not given to flattery or ‘fakery’…
I’ve meant every word I’ve said.
Recently I was telling someone just how
much you all mean to me
and exactly why.
Even you lurkers.
And seriously,
I could not choke back the tears.
And today’s story is a perfect example.
Many years ago, before beginning
our Place Called Simplicity
I wrote about our adoption journey on a site
called Journey to Me.
At that time, I met another woman
who was also in the midst of adopting from Ch*na.
We became friends via the internet.
And over the years our friendship has grown.
To this day though we have never hugged necks,
we have talked into the wee hours of the night,
texted zillions of times, prayed together,
cried together and laughed till, well,
you know.
Her name is Rebecca.
Single mom.
Christ follower.
Orphan lover.
One of my dearest friends.
And on December 5th at 9:26pm
my sweet friend Rebecca sent me this text:
“Did you see that the CCCWA loosened
the restrictions for adoption….
maybe you can adopt again”

Well sweet friends,
that simple text from Rebecca
began a journey I didn’t think
we’d ever have the privilege of walking again.
And the Lord has been so very good to us.
His hand of mercy, grace and peace
directing each step.
Celebrate with us!!

This silver haired mama and her
handsome hubby,
after 36 years married,
12 treasures
and 7 grandtreasures
are going to be parents again!!

Wanna guess if it’s a boy or girl??
And what the age might be??
#giddy
Faithful God.
Always, always, always faithful God.
And as we say in the International adoption world.
We’re
“paper pregnant.”
And oh it feels soooo good at 56.
Oh – Just another perk of adoption: no morning sickness

“Declare His glory among the nations,
His marvelous deeds among all peoples.”
Psalm 96:3

  1. YAY!!! So exciting…I'm guessing a 5 year old girl. Have no idea why I say that. But can't wait to hear more…please do NOT torment us, Linny….this is too exciting to have to wait long for!!! 🙂 Love and hugs….Nancy & ShaoXi (who comes home in 4 days…YIPPEE JESUS!!!)

  2. Ok Linny, please do not keep us in suspense….tell us more!!!! This is so exciting!!!! I love to hear about adoptions…warms my heart to know there is a little kiddo who will no longer be an orphan and will be in a wonderful family!!! God is so good and knows the plans. Hugs.

  4. So very excited for you guys!!! You were killing me with that teasing earlier post (loved it). I have no idea really but I'm going to guess a boy & maybe 5 years old.?.?.?. I can't wait to hear!!

  5. Wow, just read your blog and then downloaded the CCCWA guidelines with changes. I am thrilled for you to have this opportunity to adopt again. I love it when we can see His hand in making what seemed impossible, possible:) Congratulations, looking forward to reading posts of your new bundle of love.

  6. Congrat, Saunders Family! WHOO HOOO! Boy or girl? Toddler or baby or older child? Chinese babies are so cute. Last time I wrote, I was considering be a host "family" (single person) because I was buying a house and I am a teacher with summers off. Well, I just lost my job and considered my lifelong dream…teaching in China for a year. I just was offered a job yesterday. I haven't decided yet, but I am already doing the research and making plans to go. I hope to be able to volunteer in an orphange. I will be in CHongqing. Instead of bringing some love by bringing an orphan home for a month, I will be taking some love to some orphans and the Chinese people for a year!

  7. I just turned 54 last Saturday and we are "paper pregnant" as well for Ch*na! Maybe we will see you there 🙂
    Blessings on the journey..

  8. Yay! Praise Jesus for His faithfulness to the fatherless in Ch*na. Praying that your waiting time will be rich in mercy and miracles as He paves the way for you to bring home an orphan no more! Cannot wait to watch this journey unfold. And I am thinking girl!

  9. I vote BOY! We love our little guy so much and it makes me sad that being a boy makes kids "special needs". Our little guy has major surgery next Tuesday, by the way, if you wouldn't mind saying a prayer for him. So happy for you!!!!! Congratulations!

  10. How exciting!!! I counted 13 cookies in the stack. :). I am guessing an 8 year old girl. What a blessing for that child to be in your home!!

  11. Oh WOW! I have been away and what an exiting thing to see while I am catching up!
I hope everything Wonderful Happens and that you find even more people to bless through this time.
    Happy Happy!

  13. Wow, wow, WOW! So excited for y'all! My guess is that beautiful little girl we saw in a picture on your blog a good while ago – jumping rope, I think? Can't wait to see your new treasure!!!

  14. A HUGE hug from me here in the Northwest Georgia Mountians! Glory to God in the highest!!!! Who keeps blessing us with children when we are willing even at our age!!! He makes us able when we feel we are not. He provides abundnently in every way every day. We are going today to pick up child number 11 from the hospital. 2 days old!!! Sibling to two foster children we are in the process of adopting. Unexpected by us. Planned and ordained by God. Let us know if you need any help at all!! I could just hug your neck and jump up and down with you!!!! Blessings.
