Miss R’s Surgery is Coming

So thankful for all of you who have left such sweet, encouraging comments and those who have been praying for all of us while I’m in Africa.  Our faithful God has used them to minister to our souls.  Thankful for those who have been stopping by our Place Called Simplicity for awhile and have watched our lives, shared our joys, prayed through our deep sorrows and heard our hearts.  You have no idea.  Thankful, thankful, thankful.
It’s Sunday here in Uganda and I can hear the birds outside.   They are called Monkey Birds, because they sound like monkeys.  Such a completely entertaining sound!
Friday Emma and I traveled with a mama {B} from the baby home to a very distant city in a part of Uganda we’d never been for Little Miss R to see a doctor.  Our son George had found a driver and when the driver and George came to pick us up, not only George was with him, but Junior also, immediately Moreen showed up too.  They did not want me to go so far without them on the journey too.  We have such thoughtful and protective sons and daughters here in Uganda.  They love us and we sure love them.  Such a blessing to us!
Little Miss R snuggled with me most of the trip, until I gave Emmy a turn.   We traveled all day – such a long trip – BUT we got to see the gorgeous Ugandan countryside.  It was so peaceful.  And we passed hundreds of little villages each with clusters of mud and brick huts with straw-like roofs – absolutely stunning.  Little children playing around them.  I felt like I had been given such a gift to see such beauty.
Little Miss R was examined to determine if they would do surgery Monday.   They immediately did a repeat CT scan.   They took some fluid off the brain to analyze if there is still an infection.  Sweet baby girl sobbed and sobbed, huge tears pouring down her sweet cheeks.  {And so did mama.}   Little Miss R was admitted into the hospital and B from the baby home is required {by the baby home and hospital} to stay with her at all times.  Emma and I are staying nearby.
The Ugandan surgeon met with us {before taking the fluid off the brain} and showed us the CT scan results.  He explained things so well and showed us her two previous CT scans and the one they just had done minutes before.  He said that the situation in her brain is very, very complicated “but God willing, we will be able to do surgery on Monday”.  He is a believer and believes in the power of prayer!  I told him that there will be people praying all over the world {cause I know you sweet friends!}
I am so completely and utterly smitten with this little gem….
such a treasure from the very heart of God.   She is just so precious.
I don’t know what time the surgery will be, I’m guessing morning, which will really be Sunday night Colorado time.  I will update you all when I know more.   In the meantime, please pray for grace and healing for Little Miss R and for God’s wisdom and direction for the medical team here.

  1. Praying for sweet Ruby…for the Lord to guide the doctor's hands…and for His abundant peace and grace for all of you. Much love sent your way!!!

  2. I will pray for you and Little Miss Ruby that all goes as planned for the surgery. I also just wanted to say I am praying so very hard that all will go smoothly with Sarah Jane. I know there must have been some very hurtful things said and I know you didn't want to talk about it but I needed to say I am praying for you in this situation as well. Sarah needs her momma and daddy and would be so blessed if she could call your home her home. God will prevail and he knows your hearts are for the orphan. So many do not understand that some details have to remain private for the childs sake. We have some things that we do not share of our daughters story. If she chooses to share those later in life it is her choice. It's not that we are hiding or doing anything wrong it is just something SHE has to choose to share NOT us. So I will pray along with you that others eyes and hearts can be understanding to the adoption process and that many things have to be left unstated for the safety and privacy for our children. All Gods best to you and each of your precious beautiful God given treasures!!!!!!!! Someday you will hear "Well done my good and faithful servant well done"
