Pearl Bonnie – It’s Leap Year!

It’s Monday – Leap Year in China!!

Yesterday {Sunday} we flew across China to Pearl’s province.  Vernon was very excited to fly for the first time.  But before we were even in the air, he was sound asleep on my shoulder.   He missed the entire terrifying turbulent flight.  Actually not long into the flight  I remembered why I never ever. ever, ever, ever, ever go on roller coasters.   That dropping feeling, over and over is a little too much for this chica.  I was praying out loud for much of the flight.  Not kidding.

My heart sighed as we touched down, only momentarily though, as the plane was screeching to a halt, it must have hit a patch of ice, because we slid for a good distance.  Yup, slid.   There was no ground noise, no friction and we went sailing.

Always thankful for the internet abilities, because I’ll be able to keep you posted from time to time on our newest venture, “Walk Across China” ...till we hit the ocean and find a boat to take us the remainder of the way home.

For real.  No exaggeration.  It was that wild.   Ever thankful for His promises in Psalm 57:10:  “His faithfulness reaches to the skies.”   And that’s exactly what I thanked him for, out loud, over and over and over for much of the flight.

But on to the good stuff….

This bonus day – Leap Year – I’ve been told is an incredible time to do something extra special – kind of make it count, if you will!! After all, it only comes around once every four years.  It’s kind of a bonus day – a great day to do something extraordinary!

And as our gracious God would have it, Leap Year is our Pearly Bonnie day!!  In just about 3 hours I will be meeting our littlest gem…which means that she’s likely on the road to meet her mama and one of her big sisters and one of her big brothers.  I am amazed at all God has done to get us to this point.  He is so faithful and He is extraordinary!!

Many years ago, probably almost 50,  when I was about 7, I was at a campground in the Finger Lakes of New York state and I met a little girl with Down Syndrome.  She was probably about three at the time, and her name was Naomi.  I was instantly smitten and in my heart of hearts I began to dream that one day I would have a little one with Down Syndrome.   I have no idea who Naomi was, who her family was, but I’d like to think that if they knew that their precious Naomi was the catalyst that God would use to place a longing in my heart, they would be tickled.

So off to get ready here for our Leap Year bonus!!  The most extraordinary Pearl of immeasurable value.

Please pray for her little heart.   I can’t wait to have her in my arms.

“There is no one like the God of Israel. He rides across the heavens to help you, across the skies in majestic splendor. The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. (Deuteronomy 33:26)

  2. She’s a baby doll! She is adorable and you are blessed to be holding her in your arms soon. Sending love, hugs and prayers your way.
