So happy to introduce myself….I’m Linny and I’m grateful you stopped by our Place Called Simplicity. Ten years ago I began writing our Place as a little online journal for our kids. I wanted them to be able to remember all the wildly beautiful stories of growing up in a large adoptive family…cause trust me, the days are usually filled with all kinds of escapades.
In the 10 years of writing we’ve brought home 8 treasures…..lost our home and everything in it to a devastating fire, dealt with some serious illnesses, had 4 of our older kids marry, had our treasures endure over 20 surgeries so far.
I’ve been married to my best friend for the last 40 years. By God’s grace we have the privilege of having 14 treasures, 11 of which were lovingly gathered from around the world. We are passionate about treasures with special needs and our family now includes Quadriplegia, Hydrocephalus, Down Syndrome, Heart Disease, 5 brain surgeries, Arthrogryposis, Cerebral Palsy, FAS, cleft lip/cleft palate, two wheelchairs and a yet unnamed rare genetic disorder which makes that one – 1 in 37 million!
The five oldest are married and we are expecting our 13th grand – 5 of the 13 are also adopted. That leaves the youngest 9 at home and that kinda’ makes us feel like we’re almost empty-nesting!
In 2011 my husband, Dwight, and I began a ministry, International Voice of the Orphan [IVO] – a 501c3. IVO’s exists to Care, Comfort and Advocate for orphans around the world. In “Caring” for the orphan, our ministry has fed over a million meals to orphans and vulnerable children in four countries: SriLanka, India, West Africa and East Africa. I guess one could say that we’re passionate about the orphan!
In 2015 I had the privilege of publishing my first book Rescuing Ruby and then in 2017 I was able to publish my second one – The Memorial Box (both available on Amazon). Sincerely living my dream, I guarantee I have never done anything good enough to deserve this joy – the Lord has just been astoundingly faithful to me.
Our newest daughter, Birdie. March 2016
My prayer is that each time you stop by, you will feel like we are sitting on my back veranda, enjoying the beautiful desert flowers growing around our garden while sipping something yummy. As I share our journey I long for each to know God deeper, understand His love more and always see just how astoundingly faithful He truly is.
Ever grateful for His lavish love,
