Collecting for the Orphans

Emma had an idea before leaving for Africa….why not collect Beanie Baby type little stuffed animals to take? She went to yard sales and and bought a bunch and then went to thrift stores and asked them if they would be willing to donate some. Before long she had collected 204.

It was really fun to sort through these “new” little stuffed animals. We put them in piles just for fun according to what they were. There were racoons, turtles, lambs, bats (eeuuu creepy to me), dinosaurs, birds, bears and more bears!, dogs, kitties, elephants, and tons more….I found some favorites in the bunch….one was a little turkey whose name was “Leftovers”…LOL….but my all time favorite was a cardinal that if you squeezed it’s sides it would chirp. I love cardinals and so I prayed that God would give it to someone extra special. When it was time to pack the suitcases these 204 furry little critters were crammed into any speck of space available. In the end we managed to get them all in! If the orphanages don’t want her to hand them out she is determined to give them to street kids instead. Either way, Uganda is about to be flooded with about 204 adorable little stuffed animals.
