Sisters & Those Fancy Hair Treatments

Since Dw went to NY I thought it would be really fun to take Liberty and Emma to see Leap Year. Dw and I had seen it last week and loved it! We seldom go to the movies, but this movie? Wow! Such a sweet story – wholesome and tender!! Loved it!

Monday night Graham agreed to watch the four little ones so I could grab the girls and go. I knew that it would be likely for Jubilee to get hysterical since she does not like me leaving….nor does she like Emma leaving….and daddy was already gone!! So as soon as our late dinner was over I got the girls ready for bed and tucked them in – it was only a few minutes after 7….oh well….they’ll just feel that much better in the AM. Then I ran for the door!! =)

When we arrived home 2 hours later Graham said he had gone upstairs about 8:30 and heard talking. He opened their door and found the lights on and the girls playing dolls. Nice. He told them to get into bed and turned out the lights. When I got home they were asleep. But as I leaned to kiss each one, I noticed that Jubilee’s hair was wet. Hmmmm, weird. It also smelled kind of funky.

In the morning I noticed that Jubilee was in her jogging suit. I had put her in a blanket sleeper before leaving for the movie. I then noticed that Jubilee’s hair had something in it. Huh? What was that?
Turns out that Elizabeth had given Jubilee a make-over. She had given her a bath, washed her hair and then fixed it up for her. And what beauty treatments did she use? Ever heard of a deep root treatment with toothpaste? Me neither. Must be something Elizabeth learned in “beauty school.” She then did an entire massage of the head, hair and scalp with an entire can of mousse. Perfect!! Toothpaste and mousse. What a concept.

I asked Elizabeth what they were doing…..she said she was taking care of Jubilee. How splendidly thoughtful. And why was she not in her blanket sleeper? Cause her clothes got wet from her hair treatments. So she needed to change. Of course she did.

Gracious be!! I laughed and laughed. I love being a Mom of Many…..and I am completely lovin’ that I get to daily watch these two little girls, from different continents, cultures, and backgrounds……..bonding, fixing hair, playing dollies, smearing toothpaste and mousse in hair and lovin’ dressing like twins – sisters forever!

God, you are so good to me!!

Don’t you just love how Elizabeth is reaching up
and holding Jubilee’s hand that is around her?

  8. Oh, Linn…I just love you. 🙂 You are such a good example to us to not get upset over such little things, but to enjoy them! I literally laughed out loud when I got to the toothpaste part. Oh, how I love adoption. Hugs to you!

  9. That last picture is so very sweet! And just yesterday I posted a picture of my two (while from the same country, still from hundreds of miles apart) with much the same thought of "Thank you God for knitting their hearts together as siblings!" Only God!

  10. Oh MY!As I 3 year old I once soaked my puppy in infant cereal and put her in my play oven to dry, I assumed I was bathing her…My 23 year old father, was not so pleased……..Praise the lord for small ones with Big imaginations!

  11. I needed a good laugh! Ask Miss Elizabeth what I should do to cover my gray hairs.

LOVE the photos of J and E together. Just amazing how quickly God weaves hearts together in a family. Thanks for sharing your sweet (and sometimes messy) moments with us.

  12. I sucked my tea down the wrong tube I was laughing so hard – these two are SO cute and Elizabeth is a mess! One day she'll put all that energy and creativity to good use and in the meantime she will keep your spirits up! I am so happy to hear about Leap Year – my girls are 12-12-1/2 and almost 13 and have outgrown kids movies yet every grownup movie is rated PG-13, which I will not take them to. They also love Amy Adams from Enchanted and Night at the Museum 2 so I think we will go see this!

  13. Linny,
Elizabeth's complete beauty is no secret and she always generously shares. By showing God's Love and Gentleness, Jubilee has a special bond and trust.
As the book "Mrs. Ticklefeather" once said: (you're)…
    "a lucky, lucky lady"!
I could look at these happy pictures all day.

  14. What a beautiful post! Have you read 'Adopted for Life'? This just made me think of that, and the author's premise that the body of Christ should be treating one another like family, like brothers and sisters, not as a 'religious term' casually tossed around, but truly like bro and sis. Your girls are a beautiful picture of this concept.
