From My Front Door….

There are so many thoughts rolling
around in my noggin.
I have seriously started {at length} five blog posts
and ditched each one for another day.
ugh.
I guess I need to pray for the right words to share each of my thoughts.  Some things are so exciting, some of the thoughts are weighty and some are, well, just sorta’ kinda’ needin’ to be said…but then you know how it goes, something totally unrelated saunters over and kind of punches ya’ in the gut and wham, everything in your head just kind of mashes together.
In the meantime, as I pray and think…
I do want to share a picture of the bush beside our front door.
Isn’t it gorgeous?
My heart smiles each time we come and go.
Growing up in Buffalo, I could never have imagined just how beautiful the desert would be.
When I flew out here about 10 years ago to visit friends, I was dumbfounded at its stunning beauty.  From that time on, I wanted to live here.   And the flowers?
Absolutely gorgeous!
In fact they remind me of one of my favorite Bible verses:
“The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God abides forever.”
Isaiah 40:8
Which encourages my heart, because as beautiful as the flowers outside our home are, they will fade.  But my God’s word will stand forever.  His word never fails.  His word withstands the test of time.
And at this moment, I am really, really thankful for that.

  1. The way you are describing your thoughts and going from one to another is exactly how I feel at work! Sometimes it drives me batty!!! :o)

Aren't you proud? I commented for maybe the 2nd time since I have been reading your blog for … um … 3.5 years!!!

But do know that your words impact me deeply, and I talk to people about you all the time. They probably think I am weird. But that's ok. :o)

And while I am here, let me just tell you something I have been meaning to tell Dw for a really long time. Once at church he talked about why he raises his hands during worship and how it is like a child reaching out to their daddy. That made all the sense in the world to me and has changed the way I view worship. I used to think that since I am not the most spiritually mature, that raising my hands would make it look like I am have a deeper faith than I really do, and that would somehow be wrong. But since hearing him talk about it, I have ditched those silly thoughts and feel like worship is different now. More like it's just me and my heavenly daddy and I am just reaching to Him and well, it's fantastic. SO THANKS!

Whew! That's all for now. Love you guys!

    Michelle

ps- hoping to go on a trip to Africa with y'all very soon!

  2. Just want to say..I love your blog and your thoughts and I pray for you often…you are such an encouragement to so many, and you guys are just LIVING IT..and I love that. Just felt like I should tell you that today. God is using you in amazing ways…keep up the race. 🙂

  3. Amen to that, Linny.

That looks like bougainvillia (? spelling) to me! Another reminder of Africa! I loved it when the flowers appeared when I lived there – purple, pink, white and more. We had a fence line full of it.

  4. The bouganvilla is lovely and loves the heat and needs very little water. The colours range from burnt sienna to deep purple and they abound here in South Africa. Enjoy!

  5. Thanks for this post Linny! Also, thanks for popping over to my blog and reading the post I thought might stir up something in your heart.

I am smiling right now despite the dreary weary weather here in Michigan and despite the dishonesty of our Adoption Agency. I will HOPE in the LORD all day long!

Psalms 25:5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

  6. His faithfulness lives forever! I love thinking of how He shows us all around us the depth of His love. :o)

Just wanted to pop in and tell you that our first precious foster arrived last night! We are all so excited to see what He is doing with our whole family! I just HAD to stop by real quick and share our wonderful news with my precious bloggy friend!
