The Scoop on Prayer and Fasting….

I have been starting to cry all morning….
Did you see the comment left yesterday by Kaitlin?
“A group of high school students will be praying and fasting tomorrow!
We are spending our lunch hour in an empty room
praying for these precious babies and expecting God to move!!
He is so so good!”

And then last night I got a text message from one of my Liberty’s very best friends ever….Ashley….
who is 12 years old…..it said:

“I am fasting tomorrow.”

My heart has been rejoicing….for young people to lay down the love of food while praying to the God of the Universe to move so that treasures around the world would have forever families…and for these same young people to be learning at such young ages the spiritual disciplines of fasting….thank you faithful God for using this painful situation in such amazing ways!

To Him be ALL honor and glory!

I was thinking I would share something too, since many are new to fasting….

When I am fasting and praying I ask the Lord specific things.

Are you familiar with the scripture in Psalms 25:14a?

It is one of my favorite verses in the entire Bible.

“The LORD confides in those who fear him”

Whoooa!
Do know what that means?
The God of the Universe whispers secrets
to those who obey,
reverence, honor and have a
close relationship with Him.
He has whispered so many secrets to me.
Things I don’t even tell Dw.
 Some I write down.
Some I just hide in my heart until they are revealed.
Why does He do that?
Cause He’s a REAL God who desires a two-way relationship with us!! He doesn’t want us left in the dark.  He wants us to know how to pray, how to live, what to expect….
A couple of weeks ago I first heard about Kirill’s situation.  What I heard was vague.  Just that a little boy was denied a family by a judge in an Eastern Europe country on the grounds that he has Down Syndrome.
I was stunned.
I went to my room to pray.
I said, “Lord, what is going on?  What is at the root of this?”
He very clearly told me.
Everything.
He whispered secrets to me.
Things I will not post.
But the first thing He said was,
“The Judge is a woman…..”
When I found out that indeed the judge was a woman I smiled.  I already knew that.  Cause HE had told me.
Now, what is my motive for telling you all this?
Because I want Him to whisper the same things to YOU.
He can.
He will.
You must ask Him!!
Last year I did a series on How To Hear God Speak.
I will post the links below and I will post them on the sidebar {later today} too.
So today, as I pray for the situation, I am praying about the root that God whispered to me.  We can pray in general terms but how good it is when we are able to pray in specific terms!!
Keep praying!!
I am so thankful for all of you!!
Let’s watch and see the Salvation of OUR God!!
Praise His Holy name!!

  1. Praying and Fasting tonight and tomorrows dinners. That way my husband will be home to help with the kids so I can focus on praying. I love watching God work and I love your heart Linny. You give so much encouragment and inspiration to me.

  2. Praying and fasting with you all now. For Kirill as his case goes before the Supreme Court today and for Evan. That God is working on the heart of the judge now before Evan's hearing tomorrow. These precious children belong in families and not institutions. God will not leave them as Orphans. I am praying with anticipation of God's almighty power and perfect timing.

  3. I have to tell you this… I work at a pregnancy resource center. This morning the staff gathered for prayer, which is how we begin every day together, and we prayed for Kirill and for all those with Down's. (The abortion rate for Down's is 90%!!)

We had a young woman come in for assistance immediately afterward – with a daughter who has Down's!! We were all shocked and kept whispering to each other, "Can you believe it? We just prayed for this!"

Down's children are seen so rarely these days, especially that young… so I am taking this as affirmation that God's will prevails in this situation with Kirill!

I was so excited to share this with you!

God bless everyone who is praying and fasting today.

  4. This was good! God spoke that to me this year…that He wanted to tell me secrets. I love that God loves intimacy. A King that loves intimacy with each and every one of us…not just the "important" ones. He is good! Thank you for the encouragement on fasting.

  5. I came upon your blog on Monday via facebook though a friend. As I was reading I was broken for this family and for that sweet little boy. Today I woke up and said "maybe I'll fast during lunch" well when lunch came around I was allowing my selfish flesh take over. As I was sitting in a fast food line I checked my phone and had a different friend post the family's website who are trying to adopt Kirill. The first thing I saw was his little face and it was like BAM! God completely just slapped in the face that I COULD NOT ignore. So needless to say I fasted and have been praying all day! I pray that in His perfect timing He will join this family together.

  6. Just letting you know that I am also fasting today for Kirill and all the other beautiful Downs Syndrome orphans in the Ukraine.
LOVE how we can rally together from all around the world – knowing that our Father hears and WILL move!!!
    Blesings from New Zealand,

  7. I've just found your blog (my sister sent me the link) and fasted/prayed over lunch today for Kirill and his family. I'm going to read your posts on how to hear God speak. I desperately want a deeper relationship with Him. I struggled with fasting/praying today because I'm home with my two boys. I haven't fasted in years. Any tips on how to fast and pray when you've got kiddos to take care of and not much time to yourself? I really felt the call from God to start a weekly fast. Continued prayers for the families.

  8. Thanks for your links to the How to hear God speak – loved every one of them and learned sooooo much. Went to bed praying for God to show me where my heart needed cleaning. Woke up and read Luke 6 and God showed me five very specific things I need to be doing. Number 5 being: Put into practice what you hear of God's word. As if he were underlining the first four). How cool is that?
