A Giveaway…

If you’ve been hanging around our Place Called Simplicity for any length of time you have probably realized that I am passionate about a few things….
My hubby
{he is awfully handsome and such a Godly guy!}
My boatload of treasures
{I am blessed far beyond what I ever deserved –
and of course their spouses or significant others}
Mimi’s grand babies
 {They make this MiMi heart sooo stinkin’ happy!}
The plight of the orphan
{163,000,000 faces needing me/you/us to do something!}
Those shamed by sexual abuse or any type of abuse
for that matter.
{I want everyone to walk in freedom as I have for the last 27+ years}
and
Our Memorial Box
{It is my way of chronicling this adventure more commonly known as “life”….It is all about the faithfulness of God and only the faithfulness of God…}
Yes, I truly could speak for hours on any of the above topics.
Why?
Because they have written my life story in one way or another.
And because of the passion I feel about each one it is
easy to speak about them.
Maybe it could seem crazy to have Our Memorial Box on that list, but frankly sweet friends, without the things in our Memorial Box, I wouldn’t be who I am today nor would I be where I am today.
Remembering the Faithfulness of Almighty God is essential in our spiritual growth.
Personally speaking, if I didn’t remember, I’d be sunk! When tough times come {and they do for everyone of us} where we turn will determine what happens.  If we turn to the Lord, remembering what He’s done in the past, we will come to the place where we can rest and trust in our future.
He is faithful.
He has always been faithful.
Not for one moment in history has He removed His faithfulness from your life, nor from mine.
In the Old Testament God told the Isrealites to remember what He had done.  He told them to gather a pile of stones {each representing one of the 12 tribes of Isreal} and to pile them up.  Then whenever they would pass by with their children they were to tell the story of the Faithfulness of God.  They were to tell the stories over and over and over and over.  And then to tell their children’s children….and on and on.
We, like the Isrealites can be so doggone forgetful.  Life suddenly sends a curve ball our way and instantly we are frantic, wringing our hands and crying out, “Oh.my.gracious!  What is going to happen now?  Please God don’t you see this happening to me?  Where are you now?  Are you gonna’ leave me high and dry?”
BUT if we have a Memorial Box {or something like it}and are diligently working to remember His constant faithfulness, when that curve ball comes, we can say, “Oh!  Wait!  Lord you were faithful when such-n-such happened, and then ‘that’ happened and you were faithful again, and oh yes, there was that time as well…I see your faithfulness, I will rest and trust you  – again.”
So, yes, we surely are passionate about our Memorial Box over here at our home.  We choose to remember.
And I was just thinkin’ how I need to give away another Memorial Box.  I believe so strongly in them!   The one I’m going to giveaway is a simple box with different compartments.  It doesn’t have a door, but will serve the purpose for those beginning a Memorial Box.
While I’m at it, if you are single,  by all means – don’t wait to get married to start a Memorial Box!  Our Emma has already started one that she will take with her when she moves to serve the orphans of Uganda.
The rules of the giveaway
{please read thoroughly}
and yes,
I will ship to any country{!} on this beautiful planet:
{1} You must leave a comment on this post.
{2}In the comment you must tell us where you live!
I would love to know what city/state/province/country you reside in.   If you are dreadfully shy, then just a ‘nearby’ city or geographic region {SW Australia, etc} would be great too…
I know many of you stop by our Place Called Simplicity from all over the world, so please tell us where you are!  {A couple of weeks ago they wiped the cluster map clean to start over – but it has been really exciting for us to see all the countries that you guys live in!}  The other day I heard from Maria in Poland – and Maria – that truly made my day!!
{3}Tell me what your favorite color is…

{Can I just say that I love balloons?  Isn’t that a really fun picture?
 I have long told Dw, please no flowers at my funeral – just lots and lots and lots of colorful balloons!}

{4}Lastly, as much as I would like to open up the giveaway to those who don’t have a blogger profile {but could email} –  It is absolutely impossible to keep them all straight in my very sleep-deprived noggin –
 sooooo…..

for now, this giveaway
will only be open only to the comments left on this
Giveaway post.
{No “giveaway” emails, please, or my brain just might blow up!}

Actually, it might spur some of you lurkers to de-lurk and get a blogger profile.  {You don’t have to have a blog, just a profile.
 It’s super easy to sign up for too!}

So to recap:  This giveaway is limited to the comments on this post and must include where you live {approximately} and your favorite color.  Emails gratefully declined for this giveaway.
PS.  I am unable to put a linky on the Memorial Box Monday from my computer.  I must wait for Dw to get home to use his.  Soooo, Lord willing, there will be a Memorial Box Monday
post to link up to later today.

  6. Linny! I feel like I haven't left you a comment in so long! I've been faithfully reading daily and following along but its been tougher to comment since I've been following from my phone usually with a little person trying to get my attention. Praying constantly for Ruby and sending all my love your way always!!
Okay, I live in Coquitlam, British Columbia. My favourite colour right now is turquoise and I've been thinking I should start a memorial box for a while. 🙂

  7. I'm one of those folks that can remember that there were blessings to remember but can't remember them specifically. A memorial box could be just what I need!

    I'm in Santa Monica, CA.

My favorite color is forest green (though I'm a color fanatic so it would be easier to make a list of colors I don't like than to list my favorite colors).

  8. My name is Kelli and I live in Michigan City, Indiana. I live 5 minutes from Lake Michigan and about an hour away from Chicago. And my favorite color is blue! Any shade. I really need to start this wonderful memory box as well! I have one for my son, Levi, however I need one for our family!

  9. I need to go write my MBM post! I am so stinkin excited about it. hehe. 🙂

OK. So, I read, currently, from Springfield, Virgina… pretty much Washington, DC.

  10. This has made me chuckle. I just refreshed page to see if you had posted memorail box and now I will have to wait till tomorrow!!!
As it is nearly 11pm here in The Lake Disrict England.
So off to bed and wil look in tomorrow morning. Also be fun to see where other people are from. Oh and favorite colour blue! (darker rather than lighter, although all colours are beautiful!)
So goodnight, love , hugs and prayers from a cold England XXX

  11. I cannot wait to get started on our Memorial Box! I am a tangible person, very visual and this will be such a wonderful way to remain mindful of the things God has done in the life of my family.

So far, we do not have a Box set up, but we are thinking about what we want to do for that.

  17. Hi Linny from Langley,BC, Canada:)
Thank you for all your encouraging words and heart felt compassion. I love reading about God's goodness and faithfulness to you and your treasures. Thanks for doing such a great give-away. My favorite color is pink:)

  18. Hey Linny, I'm Lauren from Concord, NH and my favorite color is BLUE! I really, truly love all things blue. It doesn't matter which shade, or how much of an area it covers, blue always catches my eye. I don't have a blog, really, as I tend to start and stop them all the time. I've been reading your blog for about 4 years, but I only recently came out of lurking status about 6 months ago. LOL! It's nice to "meet" you officially!

  19. Hey, Linny! I haven't gotten around to a MBM post yet, but we are nestled down here in Southeast Georgia…just about 50 miles from the coast, and my favorite color? Well, that's kind of hard. Some days it's red. Some days it's blue, and some days it's green. We'll go with blue today…I like it because it feels mellow! But, I have a memorial box. I just posted for fun. If you draw my name, pass the prize along to someone else! 🙂

  20. I currently live in Süsterseel, Germany (an itty bitty village bordering the Netherlands and also quite close to Belgium) courtesy of the USAF. And my favorite color is orange.

I am truly moved and inspired by your blog. I am a 37 yr old single who is planning on adopting in the next couple of yrs., and it moves my heary to read about your family's experiences. I would LOVE a memorial box to display all the "Godwinks" that happen in my life!

  22. I would love to start a memorial box. I've been following your blog for sometime and think that is the most amazing thing.
I live in Dublin, CA – not too far from where your Jubilee had surgery last year and my favorite color is purple – any shade, but mostest favorite is deep purple – as it reminds me of my Savior's love.

  23. Hi Linny!

    -Molly
Ps before now I've been a "lurker" haha :))

  26. Hi Linny! I live here in Ormond Beach,FL which is a city in the Greater Daytona Beach area. I tend to wear a lot of black and khaki, but I don't think I can say they are my favorite colors. I really like the muted pastel colors of eggs, you know the ones that frequently grace the cover of a Martha Stewart magazine. But if I had to pick one color it would have to be the pretty green egg that you just can't buy at Wal-Mart! Is that a pale sage green? I have been searching for the perfect Memorial Box but no luck yet! Please know that we pray for your family daily!

  27. Hi Linny,

I'm Ashley from central Ohio and I have been enjoying your posts and praying for your family. My favorite color is red. Thanks for the chance for a Memorial Box.

  29. Linny,
I have grown so excited as you started these memorial box Mondays back up – I love the idea of creating little remembrances for us to look at and hold onto to remember His faithfulness through the good times and bad. Thank you!
    1)Post left!
    2)I live in Sicklerville, NJ
3)My absolutely favorite color is purple! Royal, encouraging, hopefull! L-O-V-E I-T!
4)I am here, so I assume this qualifies! lol! My blog (which I shamefully don't keep up with as often as I follow yours) is choosinghispath.blogspot.com

My heart is with the lost and broken children as well – I would love to teleport to AZ to hug you some days! We are waiting on God to move to finalize bringing fosters in. My husband declares we are going to have a 'rainbow' of children and I couldn't be more excited for what (in faith) I know He is sending our way!

She's super excited start and I need to actually start one myself…except I am not so newly married!

  31. Hi Linny: I live in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. My favorite color is Navy Blue (it used to be pink but my wardrobe was too girly lol). Thanks so much for your give-a-way and allowing Canada to participate!!!

    My favorite color is Red!
I started following your blog as a result of Karl's accident but have come to love those precious kids of yours and their amazing testimonies of our AWESOME God!!!

  33. I love Memorial Box Mondays. They are seriously the greatest thing. What better way to start the week then hearing testemonies of God's faithfulness?
I finally started to create my box after being inspired by you for so long. I just did it. It has been really amazing how God has already used the testemonies to bless other people. When I tell them about my Memorial Box, friends have even been inspired to start their own!
To get back to the required questions, I love in Western Canada and adore the colour purple.

  40. YAY! I love Memorial Box Mondays. In fact, I just posted my first Memorial post on my blog that I just started. I don't know how to link up or anything but I'm sure if you click on my name it might take you there. I thought it was cool that you posted the story about the Israelites, because I was writing the same thing on my blog and I hadn't even been over here yet tonight!

I'm from Cleveland, TN and I love the color blue!

P.S. if you can't click on my name to get to my blog the address is http://www.histriumphalprocession.blogspot.com

  41. I live in Central Mississippi and would absolutely LOVE to have a Memorial Box to serve as a constant reminder of God's goodness and faithfulness to our family.
Oh, and my favorite color is RED. Bright, bright red.

  42. I am passionate about the very same things–I share the list with you! 🙂 My favorite color: Only one?? Hmmm. Ok, red. I live in Piqua, Ohio. Love you and your family! Thanks for your blog–it's been a blessing in my life!

  43. Hi Linny!
What a blessing your blog has been to me. Simplicity…I am always wanting more of this! I just discovered your blog a week ago here in Indiana-I live north of Indianapolis just a bit.

WOW just what I needed. I've read so many of your past blogs- LOVED the 4 on "How To Hear God Speak." With 4 kids I rarely have any quiet!
I have had a burden for the poor and widows/widowers! Your passion for God's call to love the poor, widow and orphans has spoke to me and encouraged me to ACT more on my burdens for the poor and widows around me!! Trying to reach out to some young widows I know and love them in Jesus name and serve them. Thank you!
My favorite color is and has ALWAYS been PINK!!
Thank you for your sharing and passion for JESUS!
    Blessings,
    Claire

  44. My husband and I talked on New Year's Eve about being more intentional in our "attitudes of gratitude" this year. I think a Memorial Box would help me do that!
I live in Idaho and my favorite color is red (I'm SO glad God thought of colors!). God bless!

  45. Excited to jump in to try for the giveaway:) Our family started a binder with plastic pages to record God's faithfulness over the years. We had things like medical records that said our daughter had severe hearing loss and God completely healed her. It also included a small portion of cloth wiring that was removed after God spared us from a house fire and provided to have it rewired. ANYWAY…we have gotten away from the binder and would LOVE to have a memory box to look at regularly to remember the faithfulness of our loving father!!

We live in Wake Forest, NC, USA

    My favorite color is BLUE

and I moved from lurker to blogger profile recently…how liberating:)

  46. Linny-

I'm one of those who have been lurking and I'm coming out for this post. I have been so incredible blessed following your blog. My family is in the process of adopting from Haiti. We are encouraged to finish the race, to push forward in spite of obstacles that seem impossible at times. You have encouraged me to pray for God to break my heart with the things that break His. Thanks for sharing your life.

I'm Jennifer, from Tennessee, and my favorite color is ???(green)???.

    In Christ,
    Jennifer

  47. Oh man! i forgot! My favorite color is blue. Or at least that's what I say. But if I usually have a choice, I pick pink or purple.

Go figure. Sorry for more than 1 comment. PREGNANT brain wins again.

  48. Memorial Box Mondays have inspired me for so long! What a reminder of God's precious love and faithfulness! We are the O'Learys with 3 bio children and 4 adopted from Ghana, Africa and we live in Knoxville, TN. My favorite color is BLUE.

    Linny, you are an encouragement!

    Blessings,
    Kristie

  49. My favorite color depends on whatever mood I am in. =) I blessed to live on gorgeous Whidbey Island, Washington where we live with rocky beaches and in the horizon are the beautiful Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. =) Thanks for sharing your life, it is so encouraging!! Praying that the miracles in sweet Ruby's life continue to astound the world!!

  50. OK, Linny, I'm in.
Thank you for the reminder that a MB is important. Today is a day that I needed reminding of God's faithfulness to us in whatever our circumstances!

    Fav color–purple

    Location–Korea

  51. Hey sweet Linny! I've been missing in action because of hip replacement but am now doing much better. Just read this post and am excited to enter for the memorial box giveaway. I don't know why I don't already have one but I don't and maybe this will spur me on. You know I live in Greenville, in the northwest corner of SC. We are three hours from Charleston SC and about an hour from the Blue Ridge/Smokey Mountains. This is a beautiful part of our country. My fave color is red and that's the color my kitchen is painted. Have a wonderful fun time with the contest whether I win or not. Love to you sweet lady. Kiss all the littles!

  52. Dear Linny,
I'm not sure if I've ever "introduced myself" or not, as I faithfully read many blogs but rarely comment. My name is Noelle, and I'm a college student in Madison, WI. When I read that you were giving away a memorial box, I knew I had to enter! 🙂 I have been in love with the idea since I found your blog, but for some reason have never started one. Now is the perfect time, as God has been proving Himself faithful to me over and over again since my dad walked out of my life six months ago. Through this crazy and difficult situation, God has been after my heart relentlessly, sometimes whispering and sometimes shouting that HE will never leave. I can think of several things I would put in a MB. Before this becomes a complete novel, I wanted to let you know that one of the things God consistently uses to encourage my heart is your blog, and that I often pray for your sweet family. Oh, and my favorite color is purple! 🙂

  53. I love reading how God works in your lives! Thank you for your encouragement and inspiration 🙂

I just moved to Panama City Beach, FL, and my favorite color is a teal blue.

  54. I just love coming here to see Gods glorious power displayed. I love all colors, bright colors, they are all good to me. I am in Florida. The oldest city St. Augustine.

  55. I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana! Your Memorial box idea is one of my favorites because it is such a tangible way of showing our children God! And for me, not forgetting His provision and all He has blessed us with! I can so easily forget these things in the daily grind! Thank you for sharing your heart. Your blog and family has been such a source of encouragement as we adopted for the first time in 2011. 🙂

  56. Oh Linny! I so hope I win. I've been looking high and low for my own memorial box. But to no avail of yet. I've been following your MBM posts and I've BEEN SO tremendously blessed by them. I've started my collection for quite awhile now. Am looking for something to display them. I currently live in Fairborn oh and my fav color is deep purple.

  57. Hi Linny! While we don't yet have a memorial box I am totally convinced that we need to have some form of recording Gods answers to our prayers and his miraculous provision. We've been writing them down, but I love the idea of having visible reminders of these for all to see as a proclamation of Gods goodness and faithfulness, but especially for our family to who they are personal reminders that God's in control.
We've been living in Kampala, Uganda for just under a year and on days when it's just plain hard, heartbreaking work it's the fact that Gods given us so many clear reminders that he moved mountains for us to be here that keeps us here!
Oh and favorite color – currently red!

  58. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, very near your daughter, actually! My favorite color right now is lavender.

I love your Memorial Box post today!

  59. Hello There! I am a college student attending and living in San Francisco, CA! I have read your blog for two years now and it has encouraged me to go deeper in my faith, to fast, to pray more, and to live a more "God active" life! Thank you! I would have to say that my favorite color is a grassy green, teal, or sunny yellow! (3 favorites, I know, how could I choose just one!)
Once again, thank you so much for your testimony and inspiration, I have no doubt you have brought many to Christ through your God given gifts.
    God Bless.

  60. Creeping out from undercover! I'd love to enter your giveaway. I read you every day but don't often leave comments, though I have prayed for you many times.

I live in the beautiful Breton area of France, and my favourite colour has always been blue.

  61. Hi Linny, I do believe this is my first comment here at your place called simplicity, but I just LOVE to quietly sit and listen to your wisdom and have my heart encouraged and my faith built, so I'm dropping by again from Sacramento, California. My favorite color is a deep plum, but since I'm the only girl in my home I also like to embrace the pink!

  62. The itty bitty small town of Armington, Illinois if you blink while driving through you may miss it!! My favorite color is green especially by the looks of my closet!! I think it is springtime when everything is starting to grow that is my favorite time of green!!

  63. I live in central Ohio. My favorite color is yellow.

I really enjoy your blog, I love the idea of starting a Memorial Box. I hope that your hubby finds a job that is rewarding and fulfilling soon and that Ruby's health improves. Bless you for all you do.

  64. My favorite color is purple.

I live in your favorite Virginia county 😉

This past week, we received a gift that greatly blessed us and spoke very loudly to me. The note card that came with it is a definite memorial box item.

  65. Hi, I'm Marcia from southeast Pennsylvania. I like warm colors, like plum! I'd love to win the Memorial Box, and even if I don't, you have inspired me to get one for myself! Be blessed today.

  66. My name is Karen and I live in Louisiana. My favorite color is yellow. I have always been a collector of little things that remind me of big events in my life. To most people, they are a random assortment of "stuff", but to me they are evidence of a life walking spent with Him and watching for what He is doing~even when it seems like He is not there.

  67. I live in Fishers, IN and my favorite color is orange. 🙂 I love the memorial box idea and I think I should really start doing one. Thanks for sharing your life!

  68. Hi! My name is Lisa, from Shenandoah Heights, PA.

I have been following your blog for a very long time. I am inspired daily by your beautiful family!

My favorite color? Wow, I do love them all! If I must choose one, it would be Blue!

  69. Hi Linny,

My name is Shawna, and I live in a really, really small town in Northern Illinois. Purple has always been my favorite color. However, I find myself often thanking God for the many majestic colors He has set in my path. Some so amazing pictures and words can not describe there true essence. I love that God cared enough about us to bless us with such beauty.

God has used your blog to encourage me and my husband's hearts for adoption. I actually think I will do my first Memorial Box Monday post on this very topic. Thank you for always speaking HIS truth. My family continues to pray for yours.

    Sending Our Love and Prayers,
    Shawna

  70. I'm Jen & I live in Litchfield, IL. It's about an hour from St. Louis – home of the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals! My favorite color is green. Thanks for sharing so much of what God is doing in your life, and your beautiful boatload of treasures.

  71. My name is Peggy Lorenz, and I live in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado! My favorite color is teal, and I would love to start a Memorial box to remind me of God's faithfulness (I really need that right now!).

  72. Hello , love your blog , we pray for your family .. I am 59 year old homeschooling mom to 7 , 4 bio , grown .. 3 (11, 12 and 14 year olds ) adopted from China . Thrilled beyond words that the Lord blessed us with these girls . We live in Middle Island , NY ( long island) and my favorite color is blue :0

  73. Hi, Linny! I've been following your blog for about two months now and feel like I know you. You never cease to challenge and encourage me, and I love the idea of a Memorial Box. I already know the first thing that will go in it. I live in Alpharetta, GA. My friends tease me because I'm overly specific with colors. Things are never just blue or red, but rather, periwinkle blue, berry red, etc. My favorite color is probably lavender blue (dilly dilly).

  74. Dear Linny,

I'm sorry that I have to write you an E-mail because of your giveaway. I wrote a comment for your giveaway. But every time I try to send it, it tells me that the word I wrote is wrong, even when it is right. I tried at least 6-7 times and I even tried a different browser, but he do not accept it. What can I do?
But even if I have no chance to enter the giveaway I want to show you what I wrote. It is from my heart:

Okay… You brought me once again to write you. Even when I feel childish every time I write you, because of what I write. *sigh* But this giveaway is just to tempting^^

I just love you, your family, your blog, Memorial Box Monday, your work in Uganda and so much more. If you could only know how much our precious Lord Jesus Christ has blessed me trough you. I can only smile thinking about it. Just a little example: since I heard your sermon about fasting I not only learned much about this subject but begun to enjoy fasting. Thank God and thank you.

Okay once again a little presentation of myself:
I'm Jessica, 22 years old and I'm from Germany. I live in the beautiful city Leipzig. Even when I prefer to live surrounded by nature. That brings me to my favorite color:
    GREEN
I just love green. It is the color of live for me. When in spring the nature becomes green again I'm one of the happiest persons. It is from such a beauty when everything becomes green again. Our God is just awesome!
I almost forget one important thing, I'm addicted to a place called simplicity^^

I would love to win the Memorial Box, but I hope the person who needs it most will win.

I pray that God blesses your family even more and that your beautiful SJ will come home soon.

    Yours,
    Jessica

  75. I've been a visitor of this blog (on a daily basis) for just over three years now. Every so often (like when asked to pop in instead of simply lurking) I comment.
I live in Oakland, CA (I'm still pretty new to the area though) and my favorite color is rainbow (yes, the entire spectrum…in the right order of course! haha) 🙂

I feel the need to thank you once again for allowing me to come along on your family's journey. I feel so blessed to be here.

  76. 1} Hello!
    2} Ada, Oklahoma

  77. I am so encouraged by your blog, and obviously so are many others:) Keep up the awesome job of encouagement!

I live in Medford, Oregon and I have never been able to pick a favorite color. Probably right now I love deep purple the most.

Thanks for the encouragement with the memorial box. I will prayerfully be starting on this year.

  78. Wow, you are a brave woman with all the people that read your blog. You may just receive thousands of comments.

I have delurked for sometime now. I live in Alingsås, Sweden… but am American. My favorite color is green.

Hey thanks for the update on Karl the other day, still pray for him and loved to see the pic with your beautiful Autumn.

  79. I love your blog, I have been reading for over 2 years now all the way from St, John's, Newfoundland (Canada)! You have left comments on my blog and/or tweeted me numerous times and prayed for different situations in my life and I thank you for that. I would love to have people like you and your family in my every day life! Oh, and my favourite colour is pink!!!

  80. I live in Bamberg, South Carolina. I knew you and your family when we both were young girls. In spite of all the years and miles of moves that we have both had, it has been an amazing thing to reconnect.

What a tremendous blessing and encouragement it is to read your blog and see how God is working in your life. Thank you for sharing your life story with us all.

There is no way to pick a favorite color. There are so many beautiful colors…such diversity…just like God's wonderful creation. I love them all!!!

God bless you! Please keep sharing and blessing us with your story!

  81. The city that most people might have heard of that is closest to the farm where I live is Manhattan, Kansas.

It's hard to choose a favorite color. They're all amazing! But, I'll say bright yellow!

You and your family are in my prayers so often.

  82. Hi Linny. I live in Bayfield, CO. I sure wish I could have met you before you moved. I only found your blog shortly before you left to go get Miss Ruby. My favorite color is blue, but it's my super favorite when it makes a striking contrast with a light color (i.e. blue/bright white)

  83. I'm Hannah from Carrollton, GA. You're blog is such an inspiration to me and has inspired me to adopt internationally when I get older. A memorial box would be so special to keep track of God's great works.

My favorite color? Hmm….a tie between orange and bright green. I love vivid colors!

Thanks for all you do! You guys are in my prayers

  84. I really enjoy your blog, your adorable children but mostly your Faith inspires me.

I live just north of Seattle, Washington. My favorite color is . . . gosh that is hard. Red or Pink at least today.

  85. Hi,
I've been reading your blog since 2009 , and at that time I lived in Iowa city. I now live in Shreveport, La- my husband is in the military ( he is actually deployed right now) and this is our 7th place to live in 12 years!

    My favorite color is GREEN.

I love your blog and have been in prayer for your family (-:

  86. Hi! I'm Judi from Piqua, Ohio. I read your blog but rarely comment. We have five children but only two still at home. The other three are married and we have one grandson and another grandbaby on the way! Our youngest daughter was adopted from China a year and a half ago. She is now six! So I relate to your blog about being "older parents!"

I don't really have a favorite color, but I guess I would say it is "green" since most of my house is done in green tones. Red would be a second choice for a favorite.

  87. Oh it's me Steph!! I think I've mentioned a couple of times where i live!! WARWICK, RHODE ISLAND, where we make AWESOME APPLE PIES:0

My favorite color(according to Peter) is the color of dirt. I'm an earth tone gal!

    And I love you guys!

  88. I am from McDonough, GA, and my favorite color is living vivid GREEN in a celery or lime shade, though I have always dreamed of owning a fire engine red 65 Mustang! Love your family and have been so inspired by your blog and now checking in daily to see how Miss Ruby is doing.

  89. I am Kyndle
I live in South Georgia and though for many years I would say I loved Pink the most, I think I have decided I choose blue, But not just any Blue, Tiffany blue, the blue that makes you think of Audrey Hepburn and Pretty blue boxes containing sparkly things with white silk ribbon! Tiffany Blue always puts me in a good mood, it is classy and classic and I LOVE IT 🙂

  90. I'm Melissa from San Diego, CA but I live in Knoxville, TN. My favorite color is green, OR anything super bright/ neon!

I don't really need to be entered in the giveaway but I DO want to tell you something that I hope will encourage you. I've been reading your blog for several years now. Your stories and encouragements have taught me SOOO much. I had never really prayed specific prayers in faith before, and have never really fasted (I've always been afraid to fast because of a history of eating disorder). Well, there is a very sick little girl at my church and people were praying but NO ONE was organizing people to fast. So I've set up a day of prayer and fasting for her, because I've learned from you how important those things are! So on Sunday, lots of believers are going to be praying and fasting for this sweet little treasure. I hope that legacy encourages you to keep sharing! Oh, and I am secretly praying that God works on my husband's heart about adoption… heeheehee.

  91. Hi there Linny. I am from Allen Park Michigan (just a few miles south of Detroit). I am a GIRLY GIRL so my favorite color is Pink (all shades but the best is bubble gum pink) and Purple. Thanks so much for doing another giveaway!

  93. Alright you talked me into it, I'm de-lurking 🙂 One reason is because every time I try to post Blogspot wants me to start a blog 😛
My name is Anna and I live in Maryland. Kinda in between Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis.
I LOVE any pastel color. Pink, purple, green, yellow.
I've been reading your blog for about year. I was really touched today by your post about your MS. My mother struggles with a similar disease, at first the doctors thought it was MS but they ruled that out. Her disease is called Polymyositis. She shakes uncontrollably in her hands as well, mostly in her right. But anyway I really love your blog and have been truely blessed by it!

  94. Hi, Linny! You're blog is one of the first ones I check in the morning. You're posts are so encouraging, challenging, and usually guaranteed to bring a smile to my morning.

  111. Shirley from Bowling Green, Kentucky. Favorite color is green. I think I have a blogger profile but can't promise 'cause I live in the dark ages with no Facebook account either – I know how do I ever survive…tsk tsk…
I am sort of a lurker but I did send fabric squares for your quilt that was given to you after the fire. And, I sent shorts for the boys and the wedding last year. Blush- I think you even gave me a shout out here on the blog when you needed more big boy shorts in the packing process and came across my box of nada but shorts with my apologies for no shirts or ties. Isn't God so good to orchestrate all that>! I have a treasure from China as well. She is four years home now and longing for a sister. We pray for that and a memorial box would be a good reminder of God' faithfulness for both our past and our future. I want a house full – grin :O
    Shirley

  114. Hello, Linny and family!
I am mostly a lurker but sometimes an emailer. 😀

I am from Southern California and love the color deep, dark purple. Not lavender or lilac or even violet. Give me eggplant or plum any day. (Yes, it is best as an accent because it can be dark if everything is eggplant. Put it with a cream or a sage green and you have a winner!)

  115. Thank you for being a constant reminder of the Father's love. And for being His voice, even though you had no way of knowing what I needed to hear at that moment. I love reading about your sweet babies, and am excited to see how God leads me in adventures with His precious children.

It is special to us as we have a special needs son who we just love to pieces. Amy, our daughter, has your blog up all the time. We are really excited to see what God has in store for her in Uganda next month. Thanks ahead of time for having her with you. I love different colors depending on the setting I'm in. If I'm outdoors, it's the natural earth tones. I like to have those through out the house also. I do love a smokey blue.
    Our blog address is, http://www.lifeatthepronks.blogspot.com

  122. Hello! Your blog is so encouraging to me. Whenever I start to feel nervous about adopting from Africa, I visit and look at your precious family and read about God's faithfulness in your life. I've mentioned to my husband I want to begin a Memorial Box, but have not yet taken time to shop for a special box. So anyway, in keeping with your rules, here goes:
    1. We're from Wasilla, Alaska. Probably you heard about us during the last Presidential election!
    2. My favorite color is tough to say…I love COLORS! BUT I guess I'll say either dark blue, or very deep red. Sorry…had to choose 2!

  123. I am a missionary in Paraguay. I started reading your blog while we were in the process of adopting our daughter two years ago.

    My favourite color is purple.

  128. I am Janet, and my family and I live in Indiana. We love the encouragement that Linny and her family give to adoptive families all around the world. We are convinced many onced-orphaned children have found their way home to their forever families because of the ministry God has given Linny and DW.

BTW – my very "favoritest" color in the whole world is green!

    Love in Christ,
    janet and gang

  129. Hello from horse country! I live in Versailles, KY among the beautiful rolling hills and bluegrass. I have made a couple of comments but never really "introduced" myself. I have been following your blog for about a year. I'm 29, have one sweet 6 yr old daughter and I've been married to my high school sweetheart since I was 17. We love the Lord and your blog is such an encouragement. I think the Memorial box is a wonderful idea to keep us thankful and mindful of God's rich blessings. So many times it's easy to get bogged down by the rough patches in life but He has been too good to forget the lovely things He has given us. Thanks for your blog and I can't wait to read your book. 🙂 Oh! And my favorite color is blue!

  130. Hi Linny – I live in Atlanta and my favorite color is green. I have been reading your blog for several years and have not really commented hardly at all. I am a single mom to three treasures from China – soon to get #3 in March!

  132. I grew up on the West Coast of Canada, in a suburb of Vancouver. Relocated to Owasso, Oklahoma in 1999 and I love it. Love knowing my neighbors, love having a big yard for the kids, just love everything about it.

Except maybe the tornadoes, although I've gotten MUCH better about them!

My favorite color? I'm currently in a red phase!! I like bright, happy colors and find I tend to cycle through them! Pretty much anything bright, bold, happy! (you should see my running clothes… whenever I buy something new, I have to make sure it completely clashes with everything else I own!)

Love love love reading your blog. Always such a breath of fresh air, plus the super adorable photos of the kids are appreciated too!

  133. Hi Linny;

  134. Hi, Linny! My name is Laura. My favorite color since birth is PURPLE! Instead of a blanket to carry as a baby, I had a deep purple piece of carpet that I carried continuously (not a lie)!! Purple has ALWAYS remained my favorite color. I live in Northwest Georgia. I have two bio children, and one adopted child. They all 3 are my precious treasures (hope you don't mind me using your words)!! Praying for your family. I love following your blog.

  135. Hi! I started reading your blog around the time of the fire. Ever since then I have been a faithful follower. I currently live in Fuquay-Varina, NC but was born and raised in Richmond, Va. When I read your post about your experience in the Dollar Store in Richmond I knew exactly where you were talking about. I have 5 kids including a daughter from Russia, a daughter from China. We are currently waiting to bring our 3rd daughter home from China. Your blog has been inspiring to me and my family. My favorite color is purple. My 6 year old daughter tells everyone her favorite color is purple and her second favorite color is rainbow. I love that! I have decided my second favorite color is rainbow too.

  136. Hi Linny,

Thank you for your giving heart. Honestly, I didn't post before because I felt a bit selfish, I think. Dunno why but did. I feel like I always have something to say and comment often. I thought I'd give someone else the opportunity. =)

But since you reprimanded us for not responding, I yield!

My name is Stacey. I live in Frostburg, MD and my favorite color is RED! Love it! The next in the running is YELLOW!

    My blog is http://www.insimplicity.wordpress.com

A Memorial Box would be such a blessing!

  137. Hi Linny.

Wish I could have run into you while I worked in Phoenix, but time and the job simply did not permit it. I know you and your family will thrive in the beautiful Valley of the Sun! My family and I live in Clarksville, Tennessee – about 35 miles Northwest of Nashville – home of the Screaming Eagles, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. It is so hard to pick one color as my favorite. Purple and yellow flowers, blue is soothing in my bedroom, all colors of coffee (latte, with cream, espresso) are beautiful…my goodness, who could pick just one! Praying for you and your family daily and love, love, love the gorgeous smiles on all those kids – their joy is so evident. Thank you for sharing your life.

    Lindy =)

  138. HI There, I am Coreen from Raleigh, NC. I too am a purple girl (you should see my house- accents of purple in each room). It is hereditary for me, going back to my grandma who literally painted the outside of her house purple. Thank you for spurring me on in the Lord… constantly.

  139. I want to thank you so much for your blog. It encourages me so much. I want to especially thank you for your reminders about changing the batteries in the smoke alarms, etc. You are such an inspiration and so thoughtful. I want you to know that I pray for your family daily.

I live in a small town in Ohio and my favorite color is purple especially lilac (love the smell too!!)

  142. PS – Linny (you don't have to post this part)

Being Canadian….'Pink' is one of the few words we Canadians don't add a 'u' to. I was reminded as both 'favourite' and 'colour' came up with spell check indicators. LOL…Silly Canadians! :o)

  143. I "used" to be a creeper, but have left one comment, I figure that justifies me reading your uplifting, praise filling blog. AND…da,da,da,da…my favorite color is now and always has been and always will be…..yellow!!!

  144. Hi Linny, I've followed your blog since the fire and get so much encouragement from it. I emailed you my story a while ago, but think it might have ended up in your junk mail. I live in Kenmore, WA (near Seattle) with my husband, our daughter, Esther, and our two dogs. My favorite color is apparently common, but that's ok. I love me some blue! Huddle

  145. How did I miss this post!!;) My name is Renae Richard and I'm from Lima, OH! This is SUCH fun!!!:) Oh, my favorite color is blue. So glad I found your blog, I've been so encouraged by your faith in the LORD!

  147. I live in Jamestown, North Dakota! I love the color green! I've been reading your blog for a long time, but I don't comment all that often. I do pray, pray, pray for you and your treasures though. We just added another treasure to our family in December. Now we have 4 wonderful little boys (3 adopted from China).

    Hugs,
    Amy P.

  149. Hi Linny,

Its me, Jessica Onions from Durango!! My favorite color is purple and we are on our way to adopting from China. Getting our Dossier all together and starting our home study. We have not been matched yet!! Praying for a boy and girl at the same time!! Miss you!

  150. Carolynne here near Detroit, MI. My favorite color is usually blue but right now I am thinking about painting and am really leaning toward aquamarine type colors. So calm and peaceful 🙂

  151. Hi, Linny…I LOVE the color blue, closely followed by just about every OTHER color! I live in Madison CT, in a shoreline town.
    Love to all your treasures!

    Nancy in CT

  152. I'm in Tiffin, Ohio. Don't know where that is? That's okay not many do! Love reading your blog, you and your family (especially Emma and her love for the orphans of Uganda) are such and inspiration!!

Oh my favortie color is pink!

  153. Hi Linny, love your blog and I am de-lurking :). My name is Anita and I live on the top of Hogsback Hill in the middle of Old Mission Peninsula just north of Traverse City, Michigan. My favorite color is Lake Michigan blue. This is so fun to see where everyone is from. God bless your beautiful family.

  154. Hi Linny, I'm not really coming out of lurkdom because I do comment fairly regularly.

I reside in Houston, TX but my heart longs for Ohio… God willing, we'll move back there one day!

And my favorite color… is a tie between deep pink or white.

    XOXO

  155. Hi!
My name is Amy, I live in Alberta Canada. My favorite colour is blue, with purple as a close second! I am SO excited to meet some of your family on Feb. 22!! I wasn't going to comment on this, seeing as I don't really have room to keep a Memorial Box right now, but I guess if I did happen to win, I would just have to get my mom to display it for me for now! Hope you are having a good week! God bless!

  156. Okay Okay, I'll come out of darkness! I love your courage and LOVE that you are soooo radical for the LORD and by all means are not the least bit ashamed! HE is ALL I will ever need!!!!!!!!!

My favorite color is……wow not sure I can narrow it down to just one. A Rainbow is beautiful with all the colors and all the colors make an astounding picture in GOD's great big universe. I think cranberry would be one among favorites..

    I live near Dayton OH

  157. I am Barb and live near Des Moines Iowa. My favorite color if i picked one is purple. I have been following your blog for awhile and am so moved by it and your family. We are on our second adoption and it will be our 6th child. My husband thinks it is plenty so I just keep sending him to your blog, LOL!

  158. Hi,
I am Holly and I have been following your blog since you before you brought Jubilee home. I love reading about your faith and family. We have had many job changes, moves, and all while adopting children. My favorite color is green. We have lived in Colorado, Montana, Colorado, and now Washington State the town of Longview. In Longview 70% of people here are 4th generation unchurched. Best to all of you!
    Our blog is http://WWW.ARNOLDFAMILYNEWS.BLOGSPOT.COM
    Best,
    Holly

  159. I'm from Swansboro, NC, but go to college in Buies Creek, NC (both very tiny towns).

My favorite color is orange, and it has been since I was about 3. And now I go to a school whose colors are orange and white. (I promise I didn't pick it for its colors!)

And Linny, I just adore you. Really.

  160. I'm Sonja, from Sarnia, Ontario, and my favourite colour is brown. Strange I know, and pink, green and blue are close second favs, but I've come to really love brown and all it's many shades…especially a few of my kids eyes.

I've tried to start a Memorial Box, and have done a post of one, but need to really put the effort in to do it regularly because it's such a great idea.

  161. We already have our own version of a memorial box, so I don't want to be in the draw. I was want to delurk.

I am from Toronto, Canada. My favorite color is purple, but it wasn't always by choice. Purple found me and has been used many times to show me His will for my life. Now I embrace all things purple with a passion.

  162. Hi Linny, PCS has been a favorite of mine for about 2 yrs. It's truly an inspiration & wonderful record of miracles God has performed in your family. I've posted a few times.(private messaged you on FBk about Ruby)but mostly just enjoy the great read & seeing God at work.
I am a born & raised GA'Peach', residing in Warner Robins near Robins Air Force Base for 24 yrs. I've had a passion for adoption for approx 40 yrs. Green is my favorite color & my eyes are green. If you ever make it to GA, I would be honored to meet you! Looks like there are quite a few Georgians listed on this post. 😀
May God continue to bless your Family!

  163. Hi there! I would call myself a moderate lurker : ) I read EVERY post and tell my husband everything I read- he has agreed that one day we will track you guys down where ever you are and spend at least a little time with you : ) but I don't comment as often as I want to : )
I live in magnolia, NJ and my favorite color is by far yellow!

  164. I can't remember how long I've been lurking, perhaps a year and a half when we became foster parents. I'm originally from New Zealand, but have now settled in Jacksonville Florida with my sweet hubby. Favorite color? Hmmm I like so many. I'm partial to orange, but pale yellow is so nice… Think baby ducklings 🙂

  165. Hi Linny!
Melissa from Redding CA here. I think I already de-lurked but wasn't sure. My heartfelt thank you to you and yours for inspiring us all to be better people in the image of Our Lord.
    My favorite color is red.

  166. Okay, since you asked SOOO nicely, I will make an exception to my usual lurkhood. I am not shy at all in person, but online I stay pretty quiet. I have made a few comments to you, but not many…only once before were you able to really draw me out, and it was your millionth post contest (that so many of us won). My name is Jane, I am from Nebraska, and my favorite color is green. I find your blog so encouraging and have passed it on to lots of friends, especially fellow adoptive mamas. I've been following PCS since 2008. Thanks for sharing your life and your stories, even though we don't always let you know who it is you're sharing them with!

  167. Hi Linny! What a great giveaway idea! I wish my Mother had done something like this when I was growing up, because she sure does have some amazing stories of how God provided through the years for our large family. (6 girls and 2 boys) I think she might have had to fill more than a few. 🙂 I have never done something like a memorial box before, but I would love to start one! I live in Dayton, OH and my favorite color is pink! I truly try to remember to buy other colors of clothing for my girls, but for some reason their closets are still mostly pink! 🙂 Much love and prayers to you and yours.

    ~ Emily

  168. Hi, coming out of lurkerdom here. I think I don't comment because you "say it all" in your posts. There is often very little to add. I've been visiting though for, gosh, almost a year. Well 9 months anyway. I somehow found your post through Generation Cedar during their tornado trail last year.

I am so intrigued by adoption and like the Duggars have taught me what living life looks like when you consider children a blessing, y'all (that's a true Southern term all the way from right here in Dallas, Georgia!) have given a face to what life with adoption looks like to me. Thank you!

And I don't have a favorite color. My children think it's fun to ask me every day what my favorite color is for that day. 🙂 If I can't pick I choose whatever color they are wearing. You should see their smiles.

  169. Linny,

I am finally posting a comment. I live in Southern Illinois but started following your blog when we lived in South Texas and then while we lived in Alabama. I started following your blog when I found out you were adopting Miss Jubilee Promise and that you were using A Helping Hand(at least I thought so). We adopted our first daughter using A Helping Hand.

My daughter and I had the privilege of traveling to Uganda this summer with DW, Emma and Graham. Would love to meet you someday and squeeze your neck.

Thanks for keeping us updated on Miss Rudy Grace. I will never, ever forget listening to DW sing to her over and over just willing her to take a few ounces of formula and to keep it down. She is a miracle!

Wow, this has gotten long. Sorry, anyway my favorite color is red.

I think I answered everything and then some!

    Hugs,
    Robin

  170. Hi Linny! My name is DeAnna and I am delurking 🙂 It took a couple of posts to presuade me but I am glad I did! Your story is SO inspiring! So AMAZING and so touching! I love love love to read your new posts and have fallen in love with all your treasures! Thank you for your rawness, your truthfullness and your faith! Inspiring I tell ya! Your blog had me from the line in your intro that quotes the bible verse about the barren woman, I suffer from infertility and by God's Grace I was able to successfully birth two precious girls but the road was hard! Oh how grateful I am that Jesus filled my arms!!Oh and my favorite color would have to be green! All shades! It is a sign of new life and just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside! God Bless you!! http://www.gratefulforgigglinggirls.blogspot.com

  171. Ok..Ok..I will delurk. 🙂

I live in Elizabethtown, PA. Smalltown feel all the way. I started reading your blog six months or so ago. I have been chanlleged in part though this blog to listen to what God is saying, for me and what the calling is that he has on my life.

My Favorite color is white by far.

  172. LINNY!!! I tweeted you the other day for the first time ever & I was so stinkin' excited! Now I'm coming out of the dark & commenting too! Whoa! Watch out! I have been reading, crying & praying for you & your family for a few years now & I don't think I've ever commented. But there's a first time for everything! God is good! ALL THE TIME! So, I'm lurking from Plantsville, Connecticut and my favorite color, by far, is PURPLE! Now the light pastel purple, but the vibrant bright purple! LOVE it! Praying for your family… and praying that someday I may be on one of those trips to Uganda w/ you!

  173. My name is Cinnamon and I live in Omaha, Nebraska. I have been a silent follower for about 18months.
My favorite color would have to be the same as my 90 year old Grandma's….Purple of any shade!!!!!

  174. Hi Linny,
My name is Melanie and I live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I love yellow most often in spring…but I saw this beautiful blue color when I was in Michael's the other day that has got to be my favorite….I've been reading your blog for a couple of years now. I think my kids made an appearance in a pic on your blog when they wrote letters to the kiddos in Uganda last April…I would love a special box.:)

  175. Linny,

You have coaxed me out of lurkdom, finally! I come to thank you for this blog and to let you know that I pray for your family. You already have encouraged me with your words and I do not need to win anything.

I'll share my favorite color though, PINK just because I love it.

I'm also your neighbor over here in Mesa 🙂

    Rachel

  176. Miss Linny you know how I love you! God reminds me to pray for you every single day when I leave my neighborhood in Blue Springs (where they have the best Lamars donuts, One day my friend we shall dine on them together, promise!) and see your last name on the street sign! Don't you love God's sense of humor, and His love?! And of course my favorite color is the same as yours! Love me some purple! Maybe because we are children of royalty, The King of kings! Love you dear one!!!

  177. Linny, I have been reading your blog for about 2 years. I check it morning and night. You always encourage me so. Anyway, I am Kris, from central Ohio. My favorite color is coral…like the beautiful sunsets our Lord created!

  178. Linny,
I've read and followed for a long time, but rarely comment. I guess your third call for comments on this post finally convinced me. I live on the west side of the Valley of the Sun – hope to see you around sometime! I must have some chameleon traits, because my favorite color changes all the time; right now it is blue. Love reading your blog!
    Diane

  179. Hi. I love reading your blog and check it everyday.
I am writing from Nova Scotia, Canada.
We also have two treasures adopted from Thailand and China.
    My favorite color is pink.

    Nichole
    Jaxin & Marlis mommy

  180. I confessed my lurker status to you before when I encouraged you to stick your toes in. 🙂 I'm Katherine, currently residing in East Wenatchee, Washington. I just returned from six years of serving in China and will be getting married in four and a half months. My students in China would always ask me my favorite color, and I always had trouble answering. I love ALL of them in different seasons and situations. To wear? Deep purple or green. To decorate? Neutrals with splashes of warm reds and browns. In flowers? Rich jewel tones. Please don't make me pick one! 🙂

  181. Ok, now I have to comment. You mentioned my sister Diane in your last post. Who is jealous of our sister who could see you in AZ. :). I found your blog thru Diane.

My name is Michelle. My hubby is in the Navy, so for now we are on shore tour near Memphis, but soon we will be in WA DC.

You posted a picture of a sweet boy at the wedding feast holding a photo. That is a picture of my kiddos. I sent it with a couple dresses, so imagine my shock when I saw him holding it!!! I keep that pic on the desktop of my computer and pray for him every time I see him.

Maybe someday Diane and I can both come see you. 🙂

Oh, my favorite color is blue.

  182. Adoptingmama here! We 'only' have 6 kids (4 adopted, 1 bio, 1 refugee foster daughter) and one foster Grandbaby (her Mama is one of my 6), but I figure I'm only in my 30s so I still have lots of time to give to more little ones. (If HE wills it.) We live just outside of Seattle, WA, where it rains, a lot. My favorite color is the beautiful coffee brown of my husband's eyes. Oh he looks at me with such love, I'm so blessed!
I love your blog and have prayed for you and your adventures and your lovely children many times over the years since your house fire. May God continue to use you to bless others and encourage them to open their eyes to orphans among us.

  183. My name is Sarah and I am Megan Camp's sister.

My favorite color is cobalt blue.

I live in Sunny Santa Rosa, California.

I am so going to find a memorial box to put reminders of God's amazing work in our families life, even if I don't win this fun drawing.

  184. Linny,
I just happen to be green with envy (kidding:) that my sweet hubby G and Son Louis are heading to Uganda with DW in just a few short weeks… M
maybe I can go with you sometime:) We are so blessed by your blog and witness for our Precious and powerful God!

  185. I'm Annie! I live in Grand Rapids, MI, but I grew up in metro Detroit. My favorite color is orange. {Incidentally, so is my favorite flavor.} Besides the fact that I just like the color, it serves as a reminder to stand out courageously, just as orange does, as part of its nature.

  186. Hello, My name's Natalia. I live in Fort Collins CO currently. I was born in Durango CO and was raised in Pagosa Springs where my dad grew up as well. I started following your blog when Karl had his accident and have been "lurkin" ever since. 🙂 My favorite color is purple since it's a mix of red and blue (my other favorite colors).

  187. I've left comments before, since finding your blog while you were in Uganda. Now, I check on y'all daily, because you're so inspirational. I love yesterday's post (well, I read it late last night anyway), about Jehovah Rapha. I have been meditating on this beautiful name of our Healer all day.

I haven't found a memorial box yet, but am keeping my eyes open for just the right one. Until then, my "stones of remembrance" are in my heart and tucked away in special keepsake boxes in my closet.

My favorite color would probably be a vivid blue or bluish green. But a deep yellow always cheers me up, esp. when I'm not expecting it!

I live in the Heart of Texas with my husband and our youngest four children. I can so relate to you in rejoicing that God has blessed & chosen *you*, at this age, to be the mother to these young ones. Amen!

    Sonya

  188. Oh my Linny, this is so cool!
    Can't stay behind now…
but i wonder why your grown-up kids don't comment…or do they have a memorial box already, sure must have been one of the first gifts their mom would bring to their new home's!
Well we (hubby and 6 kiddos) live in Germany, just over the dutch border (am dutch), and if your blog could be a start page i would have it installed 😉 lol

    Many blessings,
    Adriana

  189. Hello Linny,

I read your blog daily, and you are always in inspiration to me. Rarely do I have the time to comment, but I read, oh yes, I read daily! And, I pray for you and your loved ones.

    I live in Hanover, PA.

My favorite color is blue! Blue like the brilliant sky overhead on a sunny day. Blue, like the color of my oldest son's eyes – such a blessing! He is the long awaited answer to my prayers! Mine through the miracle of adoption!

  190. Love Love love your blog!!!! I check in almost everyday! Praise God for your spirit and love. You have offten encouraged me I feel like part of the family!Blessing to you! I live in North Ridgeville Ohio. My favorite color That is hard to narrow down. God paints beautiful fall colors here! I will go with a beautiful blue sky!

  191. My name is Jeanne and I am a visitor from Callahan, Florida – it is a small town between Jacksonville, FL and the Florida/Georgia border. I read your blog daily – you have inspired me and I have prayed for you and yours over the last couple of years. I have shared your story with my husband. My favorite color is green but I also like brown and Tiffany blue.

  192. My name is Amanda. I'm from southwestern Wisconsin. My favorite color is purple, or blue, or green, or yellow. It depends on the day. 🙂

I love your blog. It inspires me. I'm a single gal who's looking to adopt. I'm going through the classes for foster care right now, and when I get scared and unsure I come back to your blog (and God's word) and I stick with it. Thank you.

  193. Hi Linny
You talked me into commenting. My friend Sarah introduced me to your blog several years ago. I emailed asking for your prayers about God softening my husband's heart towards international/special needs adoption. And we are proof of His faithfulness and great love towards the orphan – proud parents of two special kiddos from Ukraine!!
You are such an encouragement and your family is so beautiful! Although I don't comment often, I follow and pray frequently. I would love to win the Memorial Box giveaway!!

My favorite color, hmmmm…. I think it has to be purple. Such richness with the deep colors.

  194. *waves* Hi Linny & family. Okay your "*sigh*" got me and I will comment! I'm not sure that I have before! I've been reading for a few years now and think of you all often and offer my prayers. My family and I live in League City, Texas (between Houston and Galveston). My favorite color is blue!

  195. Linny, I have been following your blog for over a year now. MANY of your posts have hit me right where I needed them. Especially, the four-part "How to Hear God". Our family sent shirts and ties for your niece's wedding in Uganda and I have followed your adoption stories closely. My husband and I have 4 bio children and are in the process of adopting 2 from Haiti!! Thank you for your blog you are a blessing! -From Germantown, Ohio

  196. Dear Linny,
I also cannot post- there seems to be something about your site and my computer because I can post elsewhere!
Anyway I just wanted to let you know that Donna from Brisbane, Australia has been following your blog since just before the fire.
I am about the same age as you and once when I saw your wedding pic it was like dejavu! So similar to my dress!
I have a 20 yo son and my husband died when he was 43, eleven years ago.
My favourite colour has been blue for so long but I am now starting to turn a little towards red….not much of a difference, eh?
It is so wonderful to read about your life and that of your family. Keep smiling!
    Donna

  197. Well I am not delurking as I comment occasionally and have been here since the fire. We brought home our 5th child(1st adoption) from Guatemala in October of 2008. I have been struggling this past year with a possible MS dx. We live in the Upstate of South Carolina and are about 45 minutes from some awesome Appalachian Mountain terrain. Then only 4 hours from one of my favorite places…. Charleston, SC.

I love a Place Called a Simplicity and often check in more than once a day (crazy right?!). I find encouragement and I am often provoked to think of others and their situations.

Favorite color…. This changes every few years for me. I love Pink and Brown and now GREEN.

    Blessings, Lori

  198. Hi Linny! Thank you for the reminder to keep the faith. I live just outside of Sacramento, CA and my favorite colors are purple and sunflower yellow.
    Stacy

  199. My name is Marylyn and I'm in Houston, Texas. (And unlike Meredith above, I do NOT miss Ohio, except for the family that lives there, and don't want to move back. I love Houston's "winters"!) I've been lurking since Karl's accident. A friend who attends your church in CO linked to your blog on Facebook and asked people to pray for him. I have been, and for Ruby and your other treasures, ever since. Thank you for the blessing your blog is to me and so many others!!

My favorite colors are chicory blue and rose pink, followed by new leaf green.

  200. Hi Linny
I have been "Lurking" around your blog for about 3 years now, and it"s part of my morning routine…a strong cup of coffee and a PCS! It feels good to come out of the closet though!
I live in Johannesburg, South Africa and my favourite colour is pink. My pink obssession is bad that I have a whole load of laundry every week that"s just pink…and I'm the only girl in the house…crazy!

Your blog inspires me and your faith amazes and humbles me.I'm struggeling with this aspect of my life, but listening to you I know that it is possible to find my way back on the right path…thank you!

  201. Ok, ok, I am delurking. Sort of. I once sent an email regarding cloth diapers for orphans in Africa…but i dont count that. Not really anyway.
Thanks for the encouragement to really delurk! My words always seem so insignificant compared to what is swirling in my head. But know you and your family is prayed for and I know THAT is not insignificant at all.
So, now lets it make it official. Hi, I'm Jen, a mom of 5 (for now 😉 ) and I live in Blue Island, Illinois. Or as my 3 yr old says Blue Island "Ewe annoy".
Oh, and my favorite color is sage green.

  202. Hi Linny! I pray to be a mom of many too one day. We have one son and a lot of teenagers as my husband is a youth minister. We are in the process of adopting from India. You sure do encourage me, and I'm very thankful for your blog. We live in Gastonia, NC…right outside of Charlotte. If you're ever in the area, you and your crew are welcomed at our house. My favorite color is Kelly Green. Living4theone@msn.com

  203. not a lurker…love your blog…missionary in the philippines and pray for you guys all the time and as the Spirit impresses me…don't want the prize but do want to tell you that my favorite color is YELLOW…i was thinking the other day how much i admire your persistence in loving the orphan and laying it all down for a little one…and then God reminded me that i've done the same thing…laid down my career and retired when He dropped our little one in my lap…am a SAHM to a 5 year-old now…and don't miss my other life EVER. God is so funny. blessings!

  204. I live in Cleveland Ohio. When I was asked as a child what I wanted to be when I grew up, my response was to move away (they would then clarify job, and I would repeat I wanted to move far away). Many felt the need to remind me of this when I bought a house 5 miles away from where I grew up. I had 10 years of moving around (and I did, I lived on both coasts and a few places in between), but it was time to come "home" (and I'm content to live here forever more on this earth, and just travel).

My favorite color is green. Or a blue green. Or blue. Or the colors in a sunset. Or whatever strikes my fancy at that moment. 😉

  205. I'm not sure how I found your blog, but it has been a real blessing to me! I'm still single and don't have children yet but one day I hope to! Teal is my color, and I'm from Coeur d'Alene Idaho 🙂

  206. Hi Linny
I'm not necessary stopping by to enter the giveaway ….I am really feeling compelled to officially de-lurk! My name is Laura Munck daughter of the King, wife, and mama to 11. I have been reading your blog for over a year, and my husband has been reading a few months. While up nursing Mary Ann in the night I have lifted up many prayers for Karl, Ruby, and your family.

    So now consider me de-lurked;-)

And for the record I'm from Cleveland, Tennessee ….and my favorite color since childhood is green.

    Blessing to your family ~Laura

  207. I'm Allison from Bardstown Kentucky. I've been following your blog for the past year and I've finally caved in and decided to de-lurk.:)
I have to thank you SO much…I've gotten my husband hooked on your blog and, because of your family, he has agreed to "one more adoption". Praying to bring home our sixth child (a gorgeous little 5-year-old boy waiting for us in China) later this summer. My husband will be the first to say that your family is an inspiration to us. Any time I get nervous and start to question our sanity, your blog calms me down. Who needs sanity when we have faith?!?!
Again, thank you so much for writing such a truthful portrait of your beautiful family.
    Hugs,
    Allison
P.S. My favorite color is white…a color not seen often in my house with five young children:)

  208. Hi there! I'm Sabrina, and my favorite color is peacock blue. You're family is amazing. My kids and I have all prayed for you all, and Ruby Grace especially. My little boy with Asperger's loves Ruby especially, and often asks about her progress. God bless you all! Oh, and we are currently in southwest Virginia, but feel like God may lead us somewhere else soon.

  209. I read your blog all the time- love it and your sweet family! I can't wait to see what adventures are ahead of you in Arizona! I live in Upstate NY (Cap Region) though I am orignally from South FL (nights like this I wonder why I ever left- ha). And my favorite color is PINK PINK PINK. My fantasy is to have either a living room or a kitchen painted bright raspberry pink one day. If I could pick two I would also add in green.

  210. Hi Linny,
I've enjoyed reading your blog for the last couple(?) years. It has been faith building for me. I always pray for the needs you post and sometimes ask my 4 young boys to pray too. They're still praying for Ruby. (and Karl) When I mention praying for her, my youngest who just turned 3 always reminds us to pray about the salt water fiasco she experienced. Somehow that's really stuck with him. 🙂

Oh, so I live in Denver Colorado and my favorite color is blue. Especially blues with some green in them.

  211. Hello, My name is Melanie and I have been following your blog for a long time and your blog is one of the first ones that I go to lurking! I am always so encouraged by your post's and your faith! I often wish that I could post from my heart on my blog the way you do but I am not quite as talented in the bloging world. I live in Quinlan TX with my family…we have 8 children!! 4 are home grown and 4 adopted with 3 of them from China. We just came home from China with #3 in December. I have posted comments before but just not very often. I completely and totally believe God heals today and does miracles today. I was healed from fibromyalgia and depression in May 2011. I am so very thankful everyday for my healing. I have energy now that I did not have before and it has changed my life. I am a RN and work in the hospital setting and the healing has changed my life as a mother and at work. I hope to go on a mission trip to Africa this summer with my daughter and would love more info about your upcoming mission trips. I believe that we are supposed to go with your family?? Praying about that. I have been praying for your family and esp for little miss Ruby! I know that God will heal her! I know this is long…sorry. My favorite color is red because it always reminds me of the Blood of Jesus. That is the truth and I am not just sayin. I have always felt that way about red. We just found out that our 4yr old son has a rare condition that causes bleeding and leisions in his brain. Please put him on your prayer list. I have decided to start a memorial box too because I want to remember all that God has done in my life!N And that is more info about myself that I have ever revealed in any post or even on my blog! Love you Linny and hope to meet you in person some day!
    Blessings,
    Melanie

  212. I live in Tallahassee, FL.
My favorite color is sunshine yellow.

For me, last year was a time of great spiritual growth (hope to replicate it this year!). There were many wonderful things that God showed me. God used your blog to prompt me to incorporate fasting into my regular discipline. Thanks 🙂

  213. Hi, my name is Erin. I am originally from Lethbridge, Alberta Canada but now call Aguascalientes, Mexico home. I am a missionary here working with abandoned and abused babies/children in an orphanage called Sweet Refuge.I am in the process of adopting one sweet 5 year old boy who has been in my care since he was 6 months old. oh and my favourite colour is chocolate brown…

  214. Hi, I'm Kerry from Ohio. I usually lurk… but it's fun to see how many fellow Ohioans have posted. I've been following for about 2 years now and got my sister-in-law hooked as well. I'm going to very shyly admit to being the one person whose favorite color is black. I like it because it's quiet and classy. You don't have to enter me for the giveaway, but if you could pray for my family. We have one darling daughter adopted from the foster system. We feel led to bring home an 8 year old boy from China, but are struggling with funding and a lack of bedroom. The calling is strong, but the obstacles are large. I appreciate your reminders of how big God is. 🙂

  215. Well I finally had time to catch up on the past week's worth of blogs. I can't remember if I have ever posted a comment or not.

I started following your blog the day that Karl was in his accident…a friend of a friend of a friend. You know how that goes!

Anyway, I live in Durango but have never met you personally. Oh, how I wish our paths would have crossed before you moved to Arizona! I actually live across the highway from the hospital and pray every time I see or hear that helicopter.

I have been so blessed by your blog…I laugh, I cry, I draw closer to the feet of Jesus. Thank you so very much for all of your encouraging words.

My husband was adopted with his two brothers as a sibling group…so adoption has personal meaning for us. He isn't quite ready to adopt children and we have four precious blessings of our own so far. So I just sit back and pray that the Lord will bring us the orphaned one day. It may very well be after our own are grown up…we'll start over in our 50's maybe!

    Blessings to you!

  216. Hi, my name is Emily, and I'm from the UK 🙂

I am not sure I actually have a favourite colour! Red was always my favourite when I was little, purple is so inviting, and I also love fuchsia pink. I have always said however that I want a simple white and green wedding colour scheme (not that I am engaged!), so probably my favourite colour would have have to be green, in all it's lovely shades, colour of leaves, trees and mountains 🙂

Thank you for your wonderful blog, you have the most amazing family!

  217. I really enjoy reading your encouraging, positive blog. I have read for about a year now and love to see the faith and trust you have in Jesus even thru the very tough and hard times. I am from Modesto, California and my favorite color is red. 🙂 May God richly bless you and your family!

  218. Hello Linny,
I've commented from time to time. So, here's more. My name is Maureen and I am a PCS-aholic! I check your blog daily, my kids read it too. We have prayed for and rejoiced with you as your treasures have come home. SJ is still on our hearts, particularly my older daughter. She's the one pictured in my profile. She is praying SJ home. We live near Pittsburgh PA, we homeschool too. My favorite color is purple; no, green; no, anything earth toned as my favorite season is fall b/c of the colors. Love & hugs,
    Maureen

  219. Hi Linny! I'm Amy from Central FL. I've followed your blog for a while now, but mostly as a "lurker". I grew up in Buffalo (North Boston) and my mom is from Tonawanda.
I don't have a favorite color. Seriously! I love colors next to colors-yellow sunflowers against a bright blue sky, the white peak of my house against the green of the tree in the front yard, with that blue FL sky poking through (tie dye makes me happy!). We have such a creative God!

  220. I found your blog through the beautiful Ms. Ruby Grace. She has been in my heart since before she finally made it home. My daughter and I have followed her progress diligently. I love hearing about all the other family members as well, but Ruby Grace has truly stolen our hearts. I started the Memory Box Monday stories; however, have not started the box with actual items at this time. Maybe this will spur me on.

    2. We live in Adrian, Missouri, USA
    3. My favorite color is Yellow

Will continue to follow (or sometimes just lurk) and pray for you, your family, and especially the light in our hearts Ms. Ruby Grace. God Bless.

  221. HI Linny, I nearly missed this! I have been away for and just came home last night. I live in Australia, in South Gippsland, Victoria and my favorite colour is orange. (That's because my youngest LOVES this colour.) We have four lovely kids, and waiting on our fifth (hopefully this year). We also work for Butterfly Children's Hospice in China. It's a cause dear to our hearts, as our youngest began her little life by being admitted to a palliative care facility. She grew up at New HOpe Foundation, just like your Isaiah. Love Fiona
