One year ago today Emma and I were speeding toward Africa and I was
anticipating meeting
my precious baby girl, Ruby Grace, for the first time.
Doctors in Uganda that had seen her CT scan didn’t think Ruby
would ever be able to do anything.
Nothing.
Ever.
BUT GOD.
He had a plan that would surprise the greatest skeptic
and confound medical professionals.
God is always faithful
and He is always at work around us….
and today I videoed our precious treasure clapping, trying to do the sign for “friend”,
finding her bottle on her own and putting it to her mouth
and showing her joy that her therapist is coming {her favorite person outside our family}.
None of which was believed she would ever do.
We humbly acknowledge that it is only God who is miraculously working in Ruby’s life –
we just have the privilege of watching the miracles up close…
and we are the most blessed family in the entire world.
Celebrate with us!
Ruby Grace is accomplishing the miraculous!
sooo precious to hear her squealing and "talking"!!!
I showed the video to my little girls. My 9 year old said "she is always laying down, isn't she?" I said "yes, her neck isn't strong enough to hold up her head." My 9 year old said "Yet." She's right!
You are exactly right! Please keep praying with us that one day {!} she will be able to hold her head up. It is very uncomfortable for her to even try…but God is able to do anything!
YAY Ruby!!
YAY GOD!!!
Wow – loved hearing her singing and picking up her bottle!!! She is just growing and learning so quickly! π
I can't wait to meet YOUR newest treasures…soon!
what a miracle π
What a cute little CHUNK she is!! Oh what a blessing to see through you, what it looks like to save a life for Jesus. Bless you, Linny and your entire household! What a precious ray of SUNSHINE!!
Oh, and on a side note, as I've taken a real hiatus from blogging and blog reading, I did see how you were stranded in Knoxville at Beaty Chevrolet. Linny, my dear, I could have WALKED to meet you from my house!! I've always dreamed of sharing a glass of iced tea with you on your front porchβ¦Β little did I know I could have done that on MY porch!! I was really sick to think that I could have rescued you and your family that day. π
We will get that chance to share stories over tea someday. I just hope it's this side of heaven! π
Wow Kim. Who knew? That would have been amazing. We were right there…stayed just around the corner…at a Jameson Inn I think…loved the area…and now I can picture it when I think of you – that is pretty cool…
Hee hee hee…She couldn't be cuter! Yay!!!
Seriously, we are so smitten with her, it's crazy!
Oh my goodness, Linny!! ONLY GOD! Thank you thank you Jesus for restoring this precious child. Wonderful to watch this and here her chatter π Miracles take place every day…your Ruby is a living example of that truth. Love ya….
She s a miracle every day….
Oh sweet Ruby…your so precious…Praise God for what the world saw as impossible.
Yippee Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
love,
janet and gang
I love love love hearing her π And you too, you sound so sweet!! So thrilled to see Ruby doing so well. God is good!!
She is a miracle on every front! xo
What absolute joy to be witness to this mirable!!!! God is so good in His care of His people!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this little miracle!!!!
Trust me, it takes great restraint not to share about Ruby every single day. She is a miracle…and although the word "miracle" could be thought to be over-worked, trust me, there was not much hope given by some, and no hope by others…BUT GOD…so to watch Ruby's life unfold has been such a tear-filled, joyous journey! We are lovin' sharing our Ruby with anyone who will listen…xo
So precious! She brings tears to my eyes! Rejoicing with you…
I really wish the entire world could see her! She is a miracle every.single.day…and most days more than once I have rears watching what she does. She's so stinkin' amazing! Thank you Jesus!
What a cutie! What a magnificent God we have!
He is soooo magnificent!
Simply adorable, both of you that is!!!
She is so cute! rejoicing along with you π I am praying for her neck muscles that with the Lord's help, they will become strong over time so that she may lift up her head and sit up. A little at a time, step by step. Patience. Faith. He is soooo good! π π
Please Susan, pray with us that her neck will one day support her head – it will be a gigantic miracle if it does!!
i love, love, love this post. love ruby and love our miraculous God. a.m.a.z.i.n.g.
hopefully this winter i'll get a chance to meet the babe in person π

Oh I hope so Jensine!! I would love it. You HAVE To meet her…
I love this! She is just so adorable!!!
Go, Ruby, Go!!! Sweet girl, you are doing amazing! Don't stop beautiful!!! THis video is the definition of precious, I must say <3
Oh Molly, one day you will have to come this way and see for yourself! She's amazing!
I wish I could say 'wow' more emphatically than just WWWOOOOWWWW!!!! I want to shout, "GOD! HEY GOD!! I know you see what you have done and are doing in Ruby's life, but DID YOU SEE THAT!!!" The child was 6 lbs. at one year old for crying out loud! Now she is squealing with joy, finding her bottle and putting it to her mouth, and trying to sign!! I don't think I can fully wrap my brain around this 'here on earth miracle!'
That's exactly it Lori! We marvel. No hope…to complete miracles abounding!
Oh Linny! What a blessing this was to see. I know you thought you were just sharing Ruby's miracles as a proud mama, but I truly tell you that the TIMING of this sharing was nothing short of the prompting of the precious Holy Spirit.
We have our newest treasure in our home through foster care. She and her twin sister were rescued from their home at the age of 2 months, but both of them suffered so brutally at the hands of their parents. We have watched God heal our precious one COMPLETELY! He is so wonderful! Now, 4 1/2 months later she is completely caught up developmentally and absolutely a shining example of His love.
Since we are not the foster parents to her twin (who is still in rehab) we were continually denied visitation to her. She is much, much (much, much, much) more impaired from all her injuries and we were discouraged to go. We pursued, knowing that He was telling us we HAD to go to her. Last Friday, out of the blue, God flung open a door of opportunity and we were granted our desire… to have visitation rights with her sister! We just had the joy of being with her yesterday and despite all the (hugely negative) reports from the doctors, we are choosing to believe in our miraculous God that we will someday be able to bring this precious one into our family as well.
Seeing Ruby —- oh, tears poured from my eyes because she is living proof that God does not see what we see. He sees only faith and possibilities. After all, what is too big for our God?
Thank you again for sharing and give Ruby-girl a huge hug from me!
Ruby is (as you said) living proof that God does not see what we see….and Ruby will get your hug in the morning!!
Just love to see that sweet personality shine! It's an honor to continue to lift Ruby up in prayer!
Ruby's personality is slowly emerging…she loves to tease and it astounds and delights us to our core!
Ruby is so cute! Will pray for her neck to be strength and would support her neck.
Thank you Hanna….her life would be so much "easier" if she was able to support her head….so please pray with us…
All glory be to God!!!
ALL glory to God…
Linny, Ruby truly is a beautiful miracle baby! Thank You, God, for her life!!! I will also join you in praying that she would be able to support her head. I know that would make such a difference for her. Love you!!!
Thank you Connie. If she never supports her own head, it's okay, but if the Lord would choose to heal that area…it would be beyond amazing. Love you.
Oh Ruby, Stacey loves you! Just look what God has done!! I'm learning sign language too and I don't know the sign for "friend" yet. You will have to teach me. You go baby girl! Keep astounding everyone around you! Thank you Jesus.
From Ruby:
"Signing is fun. Mommy is working hard to teach me several. When mommy shows me that the person we are meeting is a "friend", mommy thinks I relax a lot. Cause I can't see people's faces, sometimes I get a little anxious, so mommy thinks signing "friend" helps. Mommy's right.
I can do "hungy" and "thirsty" all by myself and every day I tell mommy both of those. I am learning, "friend, name, thank you, bath" and it's early and I can't remember the others.
But if want to know "friend", come over, I'll show you. =)
Mommy says that when I sign with her she loves it. Cause she knows I'm understanding. And yesterday when Artemis {my friend and therapist} was coming and mommy kept saying, "your friend Artemis is coming" I was trying to show her my "friend" sign…and mommy was giggling and teary…
Mommy says I'm a miracle.
What's a miracle? "

Wow! Praise God! Crying as I watched the video. Ruby Grace God is using you to turn the skeptics hearts to him. Janet

She is so beautiful. I look at her and see so clearly God's image stamped onto every atom of that little body. THanks for sharing with us.
