We Celebrate Liberty

For years we prayed specifically for a bi-racial baby.
We waited what seemed like forever.
We prayed it daily as a family.
We prayed the same thing over and over.
“Lord, please would you bring us a bi-racial baby and we would really
love an open adoption actually.”

Although an open adoption might have sounded scary to most, no doubt
God as completely preparing us for the bundle being prepared to come our way!

I remember tucking Graham into bed one night and his sweet little-boy face looking up
at me and innocently questioning,

“Mommy, why doesn’t God answer our prayers for a bi-racial baby?”

No doubt, God can do anything, but sometimes it seems that we have to
wait a long time for the answer!

I remembering explaining to Graham, to the best of my ability, that God’s timing
is perfect and sometimes waiting is the very hardest, but God had not forgotten….
He would answer!

And then one day a crazy out-of-the-blue call…and one month later the most
precious little treasure was placed in our arms….we were smitten!

Somehow all the years of pleading for our sweet girl faded into oblivion
when that beautiful bundle was` finally placed in our overjoyed,
very expectant, waiting arms!

Fifteen years have passed since that day and we have been overwhelmed with
gratitude to the Lord for this amazingly beautiful, never-taken-for-granted privilege.

Easy-going,
cheerful,
best contagious laugh,
joyful,
doesn’t complain ever,
helpful,
kind-hearted,
wise beyond her years,
full of integrity,
loves the Lord,
treasured friend,
respected and adored by all her siblings
{in fact, when she is going to babysit – they cheer wildly!},
orphan-lover
and
lover of missions {Uganda holds her heart too}.

Happy Birthday Sweet 15th Liberty –
you were so worth all the years of praying!

God has abundantly blessed us!

*Your birthday wishes would be a great blessing to our sweet girl!*

  4. Liberty, you are a delight to all who know you. Thank you for welcoming us so kindly and making us feel welcome in Jan and Feb. I saw a deeper side of you then, one who desires to respect her mother, look out for the best interests of others, always peaceable, helpful without being asked, unassuming, humble and joyful. I hope I get more time with you! Your character clearly comes from a genuine pursuit of the Lord, which blesses and inspires everyone around you.
