Today’s the Day & A Prayer Request

Short and sweet:

Yesterday some sweet friends had a little “Mom of the Groom” party for me. It was at a local coffee shop and it was a surprise – so very thoughtful! I felt very loved. They gave me a gift of necessities of things that every Mama of the Groom neeeds with her. They also made a corsage for me out of an old lacey bra undergarment that said, “Mother of the Groom”. I wore it the entire day – so fun!!

Last night about 10:00pm Abi and I went driving to cut wild flowers from the roadside. No, we did not cut them from people’s yards, although Abi sorta begged me to we saw some gorgeous ones out there. Imagine if we had……people waking up and finding their flowers nipped off at the stem…….we laughed about just how dumbfounded they would be!! We could have always returned them tonight, you know, just kinda’ borrowing them for the day….I’m just sayin….I’ve heard duct tape works wonders….

It was pouring when we got up this morning. The wedding is set for outdoors and so we started moaning and groaning praying really, really hard!! And the sun came out! Yippee Jesus!!

Autumn has done our girls hair and we are getting ready to leave for the house. Friends graciously loaned their beautiful home to us for the ceremony and reception. Pictures will be posted tonight – hopefully!!

Now for a little prayer request…..Dw still is not really well. Remember we were sick last week? Well he still he not up to par. Infact he has had a day feeling better and then is very sick again. Fevers up at 102.7. The doc is testing him for malaria, typhoid and Hepatitus A….all things he could have picked up in Africa. No results back yet.

But we need some wisdom. Driving 1100+ miles with a son who is about to have surgery and a sick husband is not my idea of a good time. I know, I know, feel free to call me a party pooper. Taking one of my teenagers is an option, but where would they sleep when I am overnight with Isaiah in the hospital?? I wouldn’t put them in a hotel alone – not a chance!! But we need the Lord’s direction. Should Dw go and continue to pray for his healing? Or should I drive alone? We need wisdom and we really, really need Dw completely healed. Please pray for that for us. Isaiah’s surgery (provided that is the way the doc feels we should go) is set for Tuesday at 7:15am.

Off to be the Mama of the Groom!! xo

  5. Have you called the hospital? They have rooms available in the hospital for family, as well as a Ronald McDonald house right next to the hospital. We have stayed there before. You could call either one. Praying Dw feels better soon. A happy home needs everyone to feel better!!!!

  6. Oh my. We will be praying for sure! Hmmm, if you wanted to swing by our house on the way, you could drop the teens off to stay with us…then you would only have a few hours left of driving up to Iowa. ??? We would love it! OR…maybe we could meet you part way? PLEASE let us help if you think it would work. 🙂

    Love you bunches!

  7. Weird weather in Durango today – I'm sure you've noticed! Thankfully the sun is out this evening as the wedding is about to begin. Praise God! Can't wait to see the pictures (later, hint hint!)

  9. This is the day the Lord Has Made. You are indeed rejoicing in it. Such wonderful memories you are bringing to it.
Congratulations and Best Wishes to Sarah and Tyler. May your dreams and treasures be here with you on earth and in heaven.
Linny, DW, brothers, and sisters bless you for the support, honor, and respect of your son, brother, and now daughter and sister.
God's Love radiates from your family. Thank you for showing it to all the world.

Praying for the healing of DW, and the much needed answers from his doctors. Give Linny and DW the strength & guidance in making all the necessary decisions concerning the upcoming trip to Iowa.
Guide the physicians in regards to Isaiah's surgery, and be with this brave little guy as he 'charts these unknown waters'.
All these things and anything else You see we need,
we ask in your Son's name, because You said we could. Amen

  10. Can't wait to see wedding pictures!! Praying for Dw to feel much better soon and that God will give you wisdom about who should go to Iowa.

  11. Praying for DW's health, safe trip, Isaiah's surgery and that it can happen while you are there. I am sorry that you have so much going on right now. I sure hope that a new normal will come soon for you, even if that sounds too boring for you!!!!

I am so grateful for Dr. Hatch being humble enough to admit that he was not qualified to do his surgery. These older boys with arthrogryposis are extra special and need only the TOP experienced doctors should be working on their feet!!!

    Love you!!!

  15. Linny,

Enjoy the wedding today! What a blessing for you all!

We are already praying for DW's healing and your wisdom, plus Isaiah's healing from surgery or some other form of treatment.

Love from our family to yours in Christ,

    Janet, Kevin, Ted, and Philip
    (waiting for Eli)

  16. Praying for Dw's help! And can't wait to see the wedding pictures from last night!

Maybe if he's still not feeling better, you could bring him and one of the teenagers, and then Dw and the teen could stay in a hotel? Just an idea.

  17. Thanks for stopping by to see my blog! I have been blessed to read your stories of faith! Such an inspiration to see God working in mighty ways. I pray that you had a joyous day celebrating yesterday!

  18. I don't know if you'd have time to check on it….but many Children's Hospitals have rooms for the families. Our hospital had sleeping rooms (so parents can take shifts)and private bathrooms, kithenette stocked all day with sandwich stuff. It was really great since the kid room was tiny with only 1 decent chair, and only 1/2 bath. You could swap out a shift with your teen, and they would be safe there without you.
My prayers are with your family and all you have going on. Janet

  19. I live in Iowa (not too far from IA City) and would be happy to help any way I can! I sent an e-mail on Friday- please check it if you have a chance (although with weddings, travel, families, sickness, etc etc I know it must be tough to find time for it all!)
Either way, prayers will be coming your way from Northeast Iowa!!!

  20. Congratulations to Tyler! What a special day it must have been! Praying for DW's health, Isaiah's surgery, etc… I saw that you were on your drive back from Greeley the other day. Is the hospital that Isaiah goes to in Greeley?? I have a sister in Ft. Collins/Windsor, if one of your teens goes with you, they would be more than welcome to stay with her. She has a beautiful home, and an even more beautiful heart!! She would be honored. (Another sister in Denver!) Seriously, just let them stay with perfect strangers! 🙂 Well, I guess I *feel* like I know you, after following your blog for quite awhile! Just so you know… I know those two homes would be open and honored~
