A Cobra? Really?

Last night Dw and I had the best internet connection to talk that we’ve ever had in the dozens of mission trips where we have been apart.  It was amazing!  Most of the connections one or both us have to repeat anything and everything we say – and sometimes multiple times.  It can be downright frustrating at times!
It was good to be able to talk for a bit, as though he was right here with me.  The entire team is finally{!} together and they have been busy helping to build the first building on the land that A Perfect Injustice has purchased.  The bride, Abby Tracy, is the founder of A Perfect Injustice.  It is an exciting time.  Dw said the land is absolutely beautiful – lush and beautiful.  They have been throwing bricks, building, and clearing the brush off the land with machetes.

He did share with me that last week the men working there killed a cobra on that same land.  I said, “A cobra?  Like cobra as in a snake?”  He said it actually chased the men trying to kill it.  O.My.Gracious!

If I had seen that, I would not have needed a return flight to Colorado…I would have run there without stopping to catch my breath!

They are building a home for the street boys that live in their current home in the slums.  They have 16 sons.  The plan is underway to build a second home right away to fill with more street boys.

Dw has made some exciting connections – answers to specific prayers we have been praying {more on that soon!}.

Lastly, many new friends have been coming by our Place Called Simplicity and might not know that Emma has her own blog.  She will be bringing updates of the things going on in Africa.   Emma is our almost 18 year old who has had a heart for Africa since she was about 6 years old.  She is planning, Lord willing, on moving there next year.  This trip she and Dw are leading is her 7th time in Uganda in less than 3 years.

Here is her link:  Em On A Mission

Please continue to pray for the team
{and that the cobras disappear}.
You are part of it all when you pray!

  1. Praying Praying Praying!!! My heart just sings for joy over the anticipation of homes for these precious street boys!!! This is just so exciting!!! The "doing" is happening! Such answered prayer!! Praying for strength, endurance, fellowship and the mighty miracles of the Lord (no snakes either)! My heart doesn't let up praying for those two little boys at the wedding (the ones sucking on rocks for their minerals)…will they get to live there too? oh i pray that they do if they don't come home with DW!

Thank you for the update!! Praying for you! <3

  2. So thankful I found your blog. Reading your posts fills my heart with such joy. Please know that I am praying for your beautiful family.

  3. I always wanted to join you on a mission trip in Uganda until you mentioned the cobras. James 1:27 says nothing about having to deal with venomous snakes as part of the deal. : )

  4. Awesome to hear this, that they are doing well. Who will be watching over those houses, to make sure no one comes and takes them away from the children?
