In Ukraine

 Sweet friends of ours {who both happen to serve on our worship team} are in Ukraine at this moment. They have been there for about 10 days.  I will just call them S and D. They went to Ukraine to adopt a sibling group.  They have never had any children.
{We are so amazed at their courage!}
The process in Ukraine is so different from most countries.
S and D went to Ukraine not having a clue who they were to adopt.  Pouring over pictures while praying they found a sibling group that seemed perfect.
Last week they went to meet this little sibling group and each day since S and D have been spending each day building a relationship with this little girl {7} and her little brother {3-1/2}.
In the Ukraine, after several days of spending time together the children are asked if they would like to be adopted by this couple.
My.Oh.My.
Can you imagine the enormity of that?
In the process of spending time with them, S and D learned that this little girl has said “no” to a few families already.
Tomorrow is the day that S and D will see if this little girl and her brother are willing to be adopted.  Would you pray with me that this sweet childless couple will not go home with empty arms?  But that God would remove the fear from this sweet treasure and allow her and her brother to have a forever family?  That God would grant S and D favor with all involved in the process?

  1. Praying we know all to well how Ukraine adoptions work or don't work. I will pray with all my might that the siblings grant permission!! Thank you for letting us pray along with you!!

  2. We recently adopted from Ukraine… I think they just ask kids over 6 or so. They did not ask our children, but a staff member from the orphanage had to come to court and state it was in the children's best interest.

  3. Linny, I have already asked God to have this family be in his favor and a forever family for this little boy and girl. When I wake up in the night which is usually at least once to twice I will ask again. Ellen W. of Illinois

  4. I will be praying for them!!!!
    Just a heads up for you, my friend is Ukrainian and it's not called THE Ukraine, it's just Ukraine when you add the the to it refers to the time when Ukraine was part of the USSR(not good). Somebody asked her once about that and she was adamant that people should not say THE Ukraine.

  5. Oh yes….bless her heart….that sweet little girl has no idea what her life could be like out of the institution. Our Noah, who was 7 when we adopted him…screamed and cried and said he did not want us and did not accept it. Within 24 hours….a different kid, who clung to me any time he saw the Chinese officials. These kids really have no clue…heart breaking. I am praying for chains of bondage to be broken!

  6. Praying! My understanding is each region's rules are different on the age of consent. In our region the age was 10, for our son at 6 1/2 he knew we were there to adopt him and I am sure the staff asked if he wanted us as parents, but he didn't have to sign anything or go to court. A representative of the orphanage went stating they observed us with him and he had started to bond and they agreed to the adoption. Our daughter had to go to court and testify on her own she wanted to be adopted by us. Very scary for her! But we were proud of her resolve!

  7. Wow thank you so much Linny for posting this! I just now saw it. It is just amazing to see these little ones running for our arms as we came to see them this morning! We are waiting for our court date still so please help us pray for good timing and hearts that know their mom and dad:) Love!
