Misplaced Papers?

While Dw was in Africa I mentioned that I had gotten a phone call from my doctor’s office that I needed to come in to discuss the results to some tests I had had done before Dw left for Africa. Don’t know about you, but I’d never had that happen before, so not only did I know it had to be important, it was also maybe even serious.

I hired a sitter and went that day to see her, Dw was just on his way to Africa and at the layover in Dubai. He hated being so far away!!

So the doc and I talked about what was found and she ordered some more tests. More extensive this time. So let’s talk serious: They have found a problem. I know there is a problem. I have actually been blindly ignoring some symptoms for maybe even 2 years. Yeah. Long time. I just didn’t really think about stuff and then we had the fire and I still thought, “Hmmm, that’s weird.” Or “Wonder why that’s like that?” But I was just too busy to pay attention and I never put it all together until something happened that prompted a doc visit two days before Dw left for Africa.

Anyway, so after going to talk to the doc while Dw was still in Africa {and wouldn’t be home for about 10 days} and her ordering yet some more extensive tests I kind of asked the Lord if it would be okay with Him to just not get the results until Dw came home. Mind you, I didn’t want to tell the doctor’s office I didn’t want the results, I wanted the LORD to do that. =)

Well about that time I had kind of a little vision. I have only had a couple of times where I have seen something that seemed to be a message from God. Anyway, what I saw in my little vision was a girl working in my doctor’s office and her misplacing my papers under a stack of stuff. I had total peace. I just really believed that I wouldn’t hear a word till Dw was home.

Sure enough time passed and not a peep from the doctor’s office. Then the very day Dw was on his way home and only 2 hours from home they called. They wanted me to come in and talk with the doctor. I just was grinning from ear to ear, sure enough HE had misplaced the papers just like I “saw” in my little vision from Him!! God you are so amazing to me!!

So today Dw and I went in to the doctors. She said, “There is alot of information I need to give you both.” She spent an hour and a half with us. The bottom line is yes, there is something wrong. She has ordered some more tests and I am headed to a specialist. There is no one that specializes in this field in our city. Closest specialist in this field is 4 hours away. We are praying which specialist to go to. We can go to Albuquerque, Phoenix or Denver. In the meantime I had some more tests today.

And for everyone else??? Dw has been to the infectious disease doctor here as he is still having trouble and losing more weight and still has “it” pouring out. Graham is being treated for pneumonia and Josh has something that has sent him to the infectious disease doctor as well. Missions trips are huge threats to the enemy of our souls. Missions trips are not for the faint of heart. God’s truths spoken to people desperately needing to hear them is a real threat!! For the record: We will not give up and we will not shrink back. Dw and I are actually planning the next trip to Uganda.

  1. God is just so awesome. 🙂

I will be praying for you and your family and all the health issues.

Since y'all have been to Uganda many times, I was wondering if you have any information regarding the safety and such of Uganda. See, my parents are just starting to open up to me taking a break from school to spend some time on the mission field working hands-on with orphans and I'd really like to go to Uganda. My dad looked up the State Department's information on Uganda and is convinced that it's more dangerous than other places and wants me to consider "somewhere safer." I am praying still and know that God will work things out if He truly wants me there, but I thought I'd ask and see if you guys had any of that kind of information about Uganda that I might present to him to somewhat calm his fears. I know it's not the safest of places, but as far as I've been able to tell, it's about the same as any developing nation, as long as you're not in the northern part. Anyway. Sorry this is so long. If you have any info, I'd greatly appreciate it. My email is sjfrey@cedarville.edu Thanks!

  2. I love that you all will not "shrink back"! We have just been studying Kay Arthur and she was really teaching that verse in Hebrews and the trials that they were going thru. You all are a blessing, standing firm for Christ and not shrinking back against the enemy's attacks. Praying for healing!

  3. Bless your hearts. Stay strong…let His Spirit even more as the enemy tries to drag you down. Love you, friends, and we are praying for you!!

  4. I have thought about you since you said the doctor called and wanted you to come back in. Please know that prayers are being said for you!!

  5. Linny,
You and your husband are amazing. I have never posted on your blog but have been reading it and has been a source of inspiration for me. As my pastor says, "I am doing a good work and I will not come down." Don't let the enemy have any say in what God has planned! Praying for you and your family.
    With love and prayer,

  6. He is in control. Still on the throne. Praying that NO weapon formed against you will prosper. That He will be glorified through your trials. Look how He loves you…look how He has allowed your faith to be refined until it is like pure silver! He has not wasted an ounce of your pain.
Oh how you are storing up treasures in Heaven. Do not grow weary!! So many are lifting ya'll up in prayer.
Holly- Purpose Driven Family (I see there is another Holly friend too!)

  7. Linny thank you for posting…I have been worried about you!! And although I know you will not shrink back remember that your health is paramount to you all being able to carry on the wonderful work you all do. The people, especially the children of Uganda need you…there and healthy. Please take care of yourselves and don't ignore any signs…they are God sent also!!!!!!
    Love from NY

  8. Oh, Linny, our God is so good to misplace those papers till Dw could be with you for your news. I pray healing for you, for Dw, for Graham, and the rest of the team who is sick.

Oh how I wish I lived close to you. How badly I want to watch your kids, make you meals, and do your laundry. But I will certainly pray for healing, for peace, for strength, for wisdom.

May this be just another opportunity for God to show His power, His goodness, His mercy, His love. Keep us posted on doctors appointments. I'll be ready to fast and pray.

    Much Love,

  9. Linny, I will be praying for all of you to get better soon, and that the Doctor's will know how to help you. I'm also praying for complete and total healing of whatever it is that is hurting you.

    Lots of love,

  10. Praying for the health of your family. Thank you for being willing and not shrinking back. Thank you for showing us how to be an example. You have blessed many with your words and deeds.
Waiting to hear the big plans the Lord has for you all.

  11. Linny,

I am so very encouraged that you are focusing on what God has already done and His faithfulness, rather than the things that the doctor said. May God bring you complete healing and continued peace. He is good and His love endures forever!!

  12. I will be praying for you and your family, Linny. You are such a source of encouragement through this blog, and I pray that God will give you that same encouragement as you walk this road.

  13. Oh, Linnie, my heart aches a little. I'm like Kathie. I wish I were closer….to help take care of you and DW. You are certainly in the midst of spiritual warfare, but our weapons are not carnal, but MIGHTY! Greater is He is that is in YOU, my Sister.

Following both of our adoptions, we faced major spiritual battles. Stan came home with a parasite, which caused seizures, which in turn caused him to lose his job. After our second adoption, Stan lost his job again.

But, our God is Faithful. He can calm storms. He can move mountains. He can heal the body.

And, He loves you! He will walk with you. We trust that you work on earth is just beginning. He has much work to complete through you and your family.

You will continue to be in my prayers,

  14. Perhaps as a church we could annoint & pray over ALL of you as a family on Sunday? Just a thought.

Oh, and Satan? You have no place messin with my girlfriend. Be gone. Like, yesterday.

    Love you lady!

  15. I hope everything is ok with you and that all of your tests come back clear.

I'm headed to Peru for a 10 day mission trip next week. I have had this dream of going to serve the orphans over seas for so long and I can't believe God is finally making it a reality in my life. We don't have all of the finances right now and only have 8 days to get them, but I am trusting that He will bring them in. I am so excited and so nervous. I know He is going to do incredible things in the hearts of these sweet kids, but I also know that satan will try to attack in every way possible. I would so appreciate your prayers as I set out on this journey on June 4th!

  16. praise YHWH for the little vision, He's still got your back through this. Praying for Dw, Graham, Josh and your health, for healing and for wisdom, guidance and direction.

  17. Linny,
I have only been reading your blog just a few months because I am new to all this blogging stuff but I can tell you are a very special lady! God has blessed you and will continue to, just rely fully on Him like you always do. He is The Great Physician and can heal all your family's health issues.

You have lots of prayer warriors on your side lifting you up to The thrown of Our wonderful Healing Father, lets see satan top that! God has more plans for you and He will see you through this like He has all the other obsticles that have come your way.

You are important to all of us and to the kingdom and to your family. Take care of yourself for all of those reasons! We all love you and are praying for you!Let us know if you need ANYTHING at all! You are a blessing to everyone who knows you and I am just blessed to have came upon this blog (I am sure it was by God's design that happened, He is awesome isn't He?!)

On my knees right now lifting your family up in love before our Wonderful Savior!!

    Lots of hugs,
    Tammy 🙂

  18. Hi Linny,

Praying for you guys! It appears the enemy attacks the health of your family, ALOT! There is a book called "Prayers that Rout Demons" by John Eckhardt – might help. I know you guys take a stand in the name of Jesus and you don't need any advice from me on praying — but just thought I'd share!

  19. Putting your whole family on my prayer list, Linny, but especially the needs for Dw, you, Graham and Josh. God is in the details and He will guide, provide and heal!

  20. You know I have been praying for you everyday and will continue! Poor Dwight,Josh & Graham, it's so horrible what they're going through. I will definitely keep them in prayer as well! I hope they feel better soon!

So I think you should have your testing done in Phoenix so I can come see you. 😉

  21. Praying for you dear friend! For the right specialist, for guidance and for the Lord's healing powers!

I love your faith- you give me strength. You warm my heart and help me trust him even more!

I love your perseverance and you desire to serve him! You go girl!

  22. I just loved your last line about planning a trip. Now that is Holy Spirit inspired confidence right there:)

I'll be praying. My mom came back from Central America with a very agressive case of salmonila (no idea how that's spelled). It's amazing that there are doctors who specialize in treating mission workers and others who travel.

And I'll be praying for you. Proverbs 3:5-6:) Lean not on your own understanding because God knows the Truth.

  23. I will be praying for you and the whole family and that the Lord would restore your health! There is a song that Jeremy Camp sings and one of the lines is…"I will not be afraid, I will trust in You…" it's the chorus. It's been in my head since I first read your post this morning until I had time to come and write a note! Praying in CA…

  24. linny–i will be praying for health and healing for your family! i wish so much that i were closer to you. i want to have your kids over to play and grill you a meal. drop off some fruit & muffins on your front porch. run to the store for you.

    but, i will pray.

i'm excited that you're planning your next ugandan trip. i wanna come. =)

  25. Oh Linny…
I am praying. Praying for you, for DW, for all of your kids…for health, for Peace that passes all understanding….that you can feel yourself carried in the Lord's Mighty hand.

  26. The enemy tries to come in like a flood, but God raises up a standard against him!

Oh, in all your Uganda planning, don't forget to include a side trip to Kenya!

    Apendo na sala,
