On Thursday March 2nd, our precious Autumn delivered her newest little one:  a boy – Sawyer Archer Len Hujus.  Sawyer arrived at 7 lbs. 6 oz. at 7:56 am.   It is so painfully difficult to be so far away from my treasures – and especially at such an exciting time!  It was truly killin’ me.

So I talked to Dw…he works four jobs and already had to work on Saturday.  So grateful Graham and Savannah volunteered to watch all the kids while daddy was working….so Liberty, my road warrior girl, and I took off in the dark early Friday morning.  The car was packed with yummy snacks (tiny peppers, baby cucumbers and apples) and we barely paused as we hurried the nine hours to the only blue-eyed treasure of my pile.  We just could not wait to surprise her!!  At one point Dw texted us and said we better put something in our family text or Autumn would wonder where her mommy was at this monumental time.

Road tripping with Liberty is so much fun.  We talk, we laugh (oh do we laugh) and sometimes we even cry as we drive!  At one point I had started to really cry (more on that in the days to come) and Liberty spoke, “Mom! You better stop, you won’t be able to see the road!”

The surprise was THE BEST!  Autumn has zero clue we were coming.  In case you missed it on FB, it’s just too good not to share again!

And look at Sawyer!!  I mean he is so beautiful!!Truly, he is perfect beyond words!  It was so wonderful to spend time with Autumn and Karl and baby Sawyer!

 

Everlly had gone with her Nana to run some errands after coming to the hospital to meet her baby brother.   It was so fun to see the expression on her face when she came back into the hospital room to find her Mimi and Auntie LaLa there!

And what was Everlly’s very first question when she saw us… “Where’s Ruby?”  Everlly has such a tender heart and she love, love, loves her Ruby!  Ruby smiled last night when I told her what Ev’s first question was.  It was a quadruple bonus to see Everlly!!

My heart was overflowing as Liberty and I hung out with baby Sawyer and all.  And no kidding, Autumn and Karl sure make beautiful babies!

The Lord has been so good to us.  Even though Liberty and I were only able to be there for 20 hours, the joy of surprising my precious blue-eyed BFF has filled my heart with incredible joy.  I’m home, getting back in the swing, but so thankful for the privilege of meeting Sawyer and spending time with Autumn, Karl and Everlly.

March 2nd is quite an amazing day in our family!!  Our oldest, Abigail, was born on March 2nd, 1983. Our second oldest’s firstborn daughter was born on March 2nd a few years ago.  Now Autumn’s son was born on March 2nd!  Apparently everyone did get the memo and it is definitely *the* party day for us!
