There have been breaking developments in Meriam Ibrahim’s death penalty case over the weekend.
First, a senior Sudanese official stated that Sudan was set “to free” Meriam.
Now, Sudan is retracting that statement, saying instead that it will wait for a court to rule on her appeal.
There is no doubt Sudan is trying to stop the growing wave of international pressure.
As her attorneys in Sudan said, “It’s a statement to silence the international media. This is what the government does.”
We must not be silenced.
We’re redoubling our efforts around the globe. Sudan is cracking under the pressure.
But if we let up, Meriam will be executed for her Christian faith and her two American children in prison with her will be turned over to radical Islamists.
Don’t be silenced. Take action with over 300,000 voices.

So here are some of my thoughts:
I had noticed that the White House Petition site was not only down for maintenance over the week-end {ummm, call me crazy, but maintenance might be a better idea in the middle of the night instead of the middle of Saturday? Just a taxpayer’s humble opinion, mind you.}
But anyway, regardless, the number of signatures has slowed greatly from Friday before the news {albeit false} out of Sudan was announced. Remember, anyone 13 and older can sign the White House petition!!
And you, like me, might wonder if it matters if one signs the White House petition if they have signed other petitions or visa versa? Well, here’s how I look at it.
The more sizeable petitions, the larger the message to Sudan:
The world is watching
and
We DEMAND –
Let
Meriam and her two babies
GO
NOW!!
Here are the three largest petitions [links included] that I am aware of and yes, I have signed all three:
If there are other large ones, please let me know and I will attach them as soon as
I am able.
Prayer is the key though, sweet friends!
Almighty God clearly states in His word that He can turn the heart of a king, so we call on Him to turn the heart of the Sudanese officials who have the power to change this horrific decision!
My plea in the Friday post was to share that post [which included a link to the White House petition] and if you did you would be entered in a contest for a DVD of Perpetua {martyred for her faith in 203 AD}.
Friends, there is a woman who has just given birth sitting in a prison on Death Row because she is a Christian.
And if that isn’t enough of an atrocity, Meriam is supposed to have her ‘100 lashes’ sentence carried out now in less than next 2 weeks. Meriam received her 100 lashes sentence because Sudan does not recognize her marriage to a Christian and thus say she had her children illegitimately.

The 100 lashes alone can take her life!
We cannot turn our backs and pretend we don’t know. We cannot turn our eyes away, even though it’s painful to imagine. We cannot ignore Meriam’s plight!
We must plead before the throne of God on her behalf and we must ask our Bible studies, prayer groups, pastors, churches, friends and family to pray like it was our own daughter or sister!
I am reminded of Luke 18: 1-7
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said:“In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
This is how Jesus told us we ought to pray!
The offer stands…
